Save this part... floor board mounts on top of this, but under the rocker.

Because I can't find all of the spot welds... this is as far as I got.

I don't want to start hacking away at it...

I would get shot on site if I tried that in kaliforniastan.

Im thinking along same lines...

I was also thinking I would put my rig on a special diet... you know when I change my engine oil I would spray the seams and under carriage with Kroil or maybe diesel fuel. I think that should be part of the maintenance schedule....

The Owners Manual should have stated:

"Maintain body every 3000 miles or 30 days depending on driving conditions. "

"Removing all grit, grim, dirt, mud, and salt from all parts".

"Then use 3.8 liters / 1 gallon with 50/50 mixture diesel fuel and automatic transmission fluid. "

"Spray along the entire underside of the body. Paying special attention to front fender braces, lap joints, rear sill and quarter panel seam, rear fender brace seams, front floor board seams, rocker panel seams, front bib and along the whole inside of the frame"

Im sure the tree people wouldn't mind.

BLahhahahaha, hahahahah:rofl::rofl:

I know I couldn't help myself.. But I have never seen anything rust with diesel fuel spilled all over it.

Back home on the farm we have a "BIG" Post Oak tree my grandfather used to break apart tractors. No telling how many gallons of hydraulic oil, engine oil and diesel have been spilled under that tree. But it is still alive...

I'm a fan of oiling everything. I've seen a lot of guys on this website, mostly from the northeast, who swear by something called fluidfilm to help protect from rust. I haven't tried it myself yet.

Any advice or detailed pictures would be appreciated on my rocker panel / floor board removal.
Mine was bad....

I cut everything out, and that made it a lot easier.

turned out great!

It might be hard to see what I have going on. But I just did one step at a time. Did the floor board piece first, then the inner rocker piece second, and then the outter rocker panel last.

@Couse44 thank you....

Yes, I can see your progression. That's what I needed to see. I think I'm going to have to cut out more than I wanted too, just to be able to do it right. Well as close to right as possible.

I was able to work my way slowly through the spot welds under my inner rocker with a cold chisel and hammer. I then went through and cleaned up the good metal with a flap disk.

I've heard people talk about FluidFilm also. Almost bought some, then read - "Must be reapplied every couple of months" and went with clear spray paint instead (for bolt heads - that won't work inside doors, on seams, etc. May need some FluidFilm for that)

Ok next week will be another run at trying to finish all the welding on my rig.

Mean while I checking on getting my paint.

621 Rustic Green , body color. PPG carries this and will have no problem getting it

031 Cygnus White, top and grill. PPG carries this and no problem getting it.

For the other trim paint, silver and grey.

I figured I could get it from Cool Cruisers of Tx, or Cruiser Corps or from Toyota dealer.

I struck out on all three of them.

I couldn't even get a good color code.

I have been looking at paint codes on FAQ, but haven't completed my search yet.

Ash Grey Metallic T145. Looks like we can get it through TCP Global's restoration shop.
