Here is how I made my slugs to weld in the holes.

Hole saw with no center bit. Also using old quarter panel.

After I got done welding them up.. I put my straight edge in the door.

I think it was already bent inward from the gas can holder.

How do I get it back out... So I can heat it up and the cool it to shrink???

Wanted to share this tip, which I hope will be helpful to everyone. I mentioned this before, but I think it is really going to payoff the more parts I take off.

Since I have so may parts that "look" the same IE:

2 hood hinges
4 front door hinges
2 windshield hinges
2 window regulators
4 amby door hinges
4 barn door hinges
2 rear corner brackets on top

I have a set of 1/4 steel stamps. And I'm stamping my parts L or R , T or B, and F or B.
Left or right, top or bottom and front or back.

Because my parts pile is steadily growing

Wow. Nice work D!

I have 2 shrinking wheels if you want to borrow.

You might use a slide hammer and try to pull the door a bit. Have to make some holes in it but clearly that's not an issue. I have two of those if you need one.

Thank you @Vae Victus ... I may take you up on that shrinking disc thing...

I don't want to drill a hole and use a slide hammer... hell, I got too many holes as it is....

Speaking of holes..... I added some more today. Its is beginning to look like my rig is from Wisconsin, Green Bay.... "A Cheese Head"!!

You may not believe it but I've met the guy who invented the "Cheesehead." He make the road trip down with the guy from St Paul to pick up the STLCA's raffled truck, "Project Volunteer." Drove down in the "HumCheese" Hummer and towed the Cruiser back. He showed up with a box full of his "cheesy" stuff. My favorite was the Ritz Cracker seat cushion. Interesting guy to say the least.

I need some Help with this hole..... I know it was the location of the factory antenna... but I had an aftermarket one on my rig.

I don't necessarily want to use a factory antenna. I want one that will not brake while on the trail... a flexible one is what Im thinking..

So with all that being said.. what do I need to do with this hole?

1. Weld it up solid and go find a good flexible antenna and recut hole?

2. Dress up the edges and leave it like it is and get antenna to fit?

I hate to start a new thread on this, but so far my research hasn't been very productive.

Edit: Sorry guys forgot to post up my Pic.. See below

I'm not sure why you need help... Are you trying to stay as purist as possible?

If not, weld it shut and cut a new hole where you want it.

Not a purist per se, but I like to keep it with in the theme, you know "old school". Id like to see more antenna ideas.

I think your right... while Im in "welding mode" I should plug it. And with i find the antenna I want just re-cut to fit new antenna.

I have read about this a lot.. heat and penetrating oil. I know I'm preaching to the choir.

And I have used a lot of the penetrating oil.
With mixed results...

But boy!!! Put plenty of heat in that bolt!!!!! and Kroil....
Doing this has saved me even more broken bolts.
I also started using a set of rounded channels lock pliers on Phillips head screws. That has given me more mechanical leverage.

Here is the bottom of my Amby door. I would have bet the bank I was going to break these off. But I didn't. A small victory.

When you run out of Kroil, Get some ATF and Acetone, half and half, you won't believe how well that combo works. You also won't believe the smell... but that's neither here nor there when it works. It's an old recipe from an old mechanic but it's the best stuff for rusted bolts. Hands down.

Your doing a great job man, make you a plug and weld that hole up. The little screw holes if they are stretched out, you may be able to take a hammer and dolly flatten them back out. If not tack em up and re drill them.
