Yep, I feel like an EMT when I'm wearing them. I hate getting crap on my hands. I love playing mechanic, just don't want to look like one.
My HF sells various "duties" of nitrile gloves. The heaviest duty is dark blue and very durable. I get multiple days out of a pair.

Yep, Just looked too. 3 mil $5.50/100 pcs, 5 mil $7.30/100 pcs, 7 mil $10/100 pcs, 9 mil $24/100 pcs.
The Kimberly Clarke gloves on Amazon are 6 mil and were about $13 for 100 pcs, so more expensive than the HF ones that are thicker (7 mils).
9 mil is like those dish washing gloves your wife gets and keeps under the sink - they will never break, but I'd guess they are too thick to do much detail work.

Trying to finish drive shaft rebuilds. Been out pounding the last ujoint out this pm. Have cleaned and primed the front shaft. Rear shaft is ready for re-assy.
One of the last 3 cups decided to be difficult and got a bearing between the body of the ujoint and the cup. It made it about 3mm longer and thus I couldn't get it out (I couldn't pound it out since it was cushioning the cup). Had to grind off the cup edge and finally slip it out of the joint. What a pain. (I know that makes no sense. Too hard to describe accurately. Trust me it was a pain.)

One step forward...
Got the rebuild done on the front drive shaft, but I'm short one needle bearing. Sigh. Old ones didn't match.
Oh well. I'll get a replacement from where I bought it.
Ready for the road
Rear shaft will be in the next week as I'm waiting on two more u joints.
I guess I cannot delay the transmission rebuild any longer. It is time to begin.

You are so thorough that nearly every time I search anything on mud ("manual steering gear box" this time, "clutch rebuild" last time) your build thread comes up. Even "nitrile gloves" will bring it up now. Great job documenting your build. I need to step up my game on my thread. Unfortunately, I lost a bunch of photos I had stored.....

Oh, don't give me encouragement, I'll just start documenting the fact that I'm pulling paper towels and zip locks out of the kitchen trash can to use on the 40, much to my dear wife's chagrin. The other day she snatched one out of my hand and said "You don't want that one, I blew my nose on it." I had to laugh and tell her she was right. I guess there are some things that I can't even stomach (although the nitrile gloves are very thick).
Hoping I'm giving back to the community.
You're putting me to shame. I had almost a year head start and you are absolutely outpacing me - and im even paying a mechanic for the tough stuff! Keep up this pace and you'll have a show car before my power steering gets finished.
That said, I don't mind, I'll let you find all the bumps in the road so I can avoid them on my build.

Well thanks for the boost, but truly the only thing I've done is take a bunch of stuff off, and rebuild the transfer case, plus the drive shafts. I'm *planning* to do a bunch of stuff! I've learned a lot and have gotten the things gathered to get ready for the upcoming projects.

That's a memory maker for sure! Good job dad. Mine is 13, not quite ready for the Quetico trip.
