This Rangie has an LT230 gear driven transfer case. No chain. The clunk is likely a spline wear issue between the transmission's output shaft and the transfer case's input gear. Extremely common in all the Land Rovers using the LT230 (Rangie -- original body style, Defender, Discovery, Discovery II).
Since it is an Automatic, fairly easy to replace going in through the transfer case’s PTO cover, pull the input gear, and than the output shaft adapter from the transmission. Replace both the adapter shaft and the input gear (use newer...

Was going to restore but medical problem keeps me from driving, and don't want to see this sit in the street any longer.
2002 VW Golf GLS TDI diesel auto. Black exterior, black cloth interior, cold A/C, hot heater, everything works great. No known mechanical issues. Trans shifts great, engine and turbo are super strong. It has every option available in a GLS with the exception of leather and the cold weather package. I have run Amsoil full synthetic oil in it since I got it with 48K on it and changed oil every 10K per spec. This car gets 40 MPG typically, but with someone who really watches their speeds, I've gotten 46 MPG. This is the ultimate commuter car but still fun to drive on the weekends. .

I know I am going to get flamed for posting this here, but I'm hoping that someone here has a Jeep friend that would be interested in this. I bought it after I sold my 40 and was having wheelin withdrawls. I couldn't find another cruiser in my price range, so I bought this. It was originally a buick v6 with a three speed. There were only 100 Hurst Jeepster built. Basically they were white with a hood scoop and a hood tach. The scoop is missing but the tach is still in place. I know where to get a scoop for around $200. When I got it, it was repainted, a different engine was put in, and a different transmission. I didn't realize it was rare when I first got it.

Well I've come to the conclusion that I am going to sell my expedition ready 2002 Toyota Tacoma. With my wife and son on a camping trip the quaters are tight, and we are expecting our second son any moment so I've decided to give up my truck for a fzj80 (hopefully).

Rig is great shape overall, no rust. White/tan leather 139K miles. Factory running boards, sunroof, roofrack, bug and sunroof deflector 3rd seats. Lockers work fine tried them just the other day to make sure. Stock wheels and tires. Michelins have 10-15k left on them.
This is a nice unmolested Cruiser perfect for whatever. I have another project in mind and 3 cars, so it needs a good home.

This has the 1.8t and the tiptronic auto transmission that you can shift from the steering wheel. It has 78,000 miles. It has a couple of chips/door dings but overall is a very nice car. Other options include: Power sunroof, dual climate control, leather, heated seats front and rear, Bose 6 disc in dash cd changer, and ESP. It's a great car with plenty of power and great fuel mileage. I am asking $15,900. Average retail is $14,000. It is located in Rexburg Idaho.
