It had a nice paint job but has lots of chips. Bondo on the front fenders and has some cancer in the left rear 1/4. Chassis looks good though.
Its listed as a 1979 but reads to be a 1980.

For Sale: as pile of parts that once was a 1981 FJ40. Was originally driven as a winter 4x4 here in central OH, so it quickly dissolved. I bought it from the 2nd owner about 1995. Toyed w/ the idea of doing an AL tub, but ended up selling it as a complete running project w/ severe rust to Tim. He was able to get it up to his garage in Cleveland and pull off the rotten tub in pieces. But the project languished for the past several years, and his new wife says "That pile of junk is not coming to the new house". so now I have it back, but do not have time or $$ to take on yet another project so it is FS again.

I hate to sell my ride but property taxes are a *****. This is a great running FJ for the trail or a date. Its not perfect but as you can see from the photo's its in pretty darn good shape. Took a 1970 fj40 hardtop with 23k one owner miles on trade.Restoration is 75% complete lot of new sheet metal was a cabin truck in Mn..Has the tool kit and pto winch and new tires, all the glass is good and the truck is in primer. Head was updated,frame was sandblasted and painted,needs to be painted and put back together. 1966 FJ40, built as per my sig line. By no means is this a restoration vehicle, but this is a solid 40. It runs, drives great, tracks straight, and is overall just plain fun to drive. You can actually fit six people in this rig; I know, because I have done it often.
UPDATE: ***PRICE REDUCED*** I am looking to trade for an 80 series, can be lifted or stock. Otherwise I will take $4900.00 cash for the 40 (Reduced from $6500.00).
UPDATE #2: I will also add in a 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee for the right 80 series. See post #27 below for details.

Basically Volvo decided they needed a fancy 2 door car but knew it would be costly to produce the limited number so the had the BERTONE factory in Italy build them for them. Hand built with ALL Italian leather interior.

For sale: 1973 FJ40, 3 speed. Completely gone thru, no expense spared 15 yrs. ago, a true nut and bolt resto/rebuild. Probably spent in excess of $15K originally and hundreds of hours. Needs alot of TLC now, SC air has rusted tub(wheel wells), hood, and roof band badly. Mechanically excellent, but rough cosmetically. Will need paint and body work. Frame and chassis all powder coated and all bolts replated correctly. Every part disassembled, cleaned/striped then repainted/powdercoated/replated. All stock except for 3.5" lift & Rancho suspension, Warn hubs. Upgraded cam, valves, rings, Weber carb, K & N filter, Manafre header, large diameter exhaust. Over $4000 alone spent on F1 motor. Approx 25K on rebuild. Too much to list and many...

So.. I got accepted to Texas Tech and now need to pay off the loan for my 2001 4runner so I can afford rent. I don't even want to sell it, but here goes...
It's a 1979 FJ40, which I purchased off MUD as well, 3 years ago. I'm asking $10,000 OBO. I think I've put way too much money into it to sell it, but the mod's are as follows:
-4-inch leaf spring lift from SOR, includes Heavy-Duty shackles.
-35x12.5 BFG Mud's
-Weber 34 Carb
-Mini-Truck Powersteering (followed MUD's FAQ, equipment and build)
- Desmogged, with new exhaust
- HFS steering stablizer
Radiator, Alternator, Starter, Fuel Pump replaced with new.

1967 FJ40 with 74 2F motor. Runs and drives but needs a 38mm carb. Truck previously had a 1fe and I replaced this summer but reused the old 32mm weber. Just not enough fuel for the 2F. Also have a 4spd bellhousing I was saving for the eventual 4spd conversion. I am now moving away from the desert and into SanDiego and will not have the space or environment to continue enjoying. I have owned the truck for 2 yrs. Replaced the old wiring with a modern blade style fuse box and new wiring. Aftermarket roll cage not bolted in.
