Wanted to see if any members were interested before I advertised elsewhere.
1975 Tub with all new panels welded in. Hardtop and Doors. Galvanized and painted frame in like brand new condition. 1979 rebuilt 2F motor with extras. New clutch etc. New Hell Creek 4in. suspension. Everything I have is very nice and must go. Many extras. Project just needs finishing. $4,000.00
78 FJ40 Built this for my Daughter back in 03 has a small block chevy 267 with a turbo 350 trans adapted to LC 4 speed transfer case , also has power steering , and rear disc brakes . the tub is made of 1/8" diamond plate steel professionaly done. It has homemade Shackels 1" over stock. The tires are 32-11.50 BFG's which are starting to dry rot from sitting .. The top is a Best Top which i also purchased new in 03, I never had a front drive shaft made because it never went off road or was driven in the winter . This truck needs a little TLC .and would make a great daily driver. 72 FJ40 w/ PTO winch in VA $2800 obo
I am selling my 72 FJ40. The odometer says 70k which the previous owner said was accurate. It has a factory pto and winch. I cut out the rust in the tub, sand blasted it, painted it with rust stop and rust cap paint. Motor had a blown piston when purchased, it was honed and replaced with a new piston and ring. Carb was rebuilt but still needs tweeking. I have paint (base, clear coat, 2k primer) I have driven it around the shop. The tailights still need to be rewired. i have a 68 land cruiser that i need to sell, other things have came up. first off it has a SBC with SM420 adapted to the stock land cruiser tcase. has about a 1 1/2 shackle lift and probably a spring lift as well, has u-bolt skids on the bottom as well. rolling on 31s and white spokes the tires are getting pretty bald. i also have a set of chrome wheels with 31s in about the same shape i can throw in as well. no top just half doors. also will come with all you need to turn it to disk brake in the front. fj60 rotors not mini truck, calipers, warn hubs. as well as fine spline birfs, body is ruff but will make a good crawler. needs some tlc, some wiring and such. fuel tank needs to be clean but its a great platform and runs great . also...

For sale is a 1982 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40. This thing runs great--it's been my daily driver for almost 2 years. It is one of the best looking, best running late-model FJ40s you'll find. It has all the features: air conditioning, power steering, disc brakes, etc. It also is as close to a "stock" FJ40 as there is these days: includes the original stock radio, vinyl floor mats, and many other original features that you don't see as often these days. The engine is the original straight-six, and it runs like a top. 4-spd transmission runs great, too.
Odometer reads 93k, but it stopped working long ago, so I'm not sure what the actual mileage is. However, there can't be too many miles on it because it runs so smoothly...
Stock 1979 FJ40 with factory AC & PS in CHICAGO **SOLD**
I picked this up over a jear ago to join my stable of three other FJ40's. It appealed to me primarily because it had FACTORY AC and PS, and because it was completely stock - down to the smog/vacuum snakepit being unmolested.
I rebuilt the carb using a Hyster kit at which time I replaced the majority of vacuum lines. A few were discionnected which had me scratching around for a factory emissions manual which a fellow 'Mudder provided me with.
Vehicle has original 2F straight-six engine and manual 4-speed transmission. Engine has good compression readings of 125/130/130/125/130/130 psi. Transfer case shifts from 2wd to 4wd (hi and low) and drives in all configuarations...
Plans have changed and the family pressure is on to make some room in the garage so it's with great sadness that I put my 77 FJ40 up for sale.
Gorgeous frame on it with very little rust. (I'd say no rust at all but I'm sure there's a tiny bit I haven't seen.)
The body is decent although the PO did some body work on the rockers that won't win any awards but it's not bad. Diamond plate rear quarters but the metal doesn't appear to be rotted through underneath. Paint is a home job done by the PO that looks pretty bad up close but it's great for a trail rig.
2F engine with unknown miles on it. Runs well, smokes a bit at start-up.
Brand new, freshly install Pertronix ignition and Flame Thrower coil.

1971 FJ40 with 350 V8 and GM tranny. Got this FJ almost 2 yrs ago and stuck it in the garage. Have not touched it. I never tried to start it. No battery, carb not attached, radiator is in the back seat. Planned on a total resto/rebuild but I don't have the time or cash now. There is some rust in the typical trouble spots (rockers, rear quarters, below rear doors) but the floors are solid, frame is solid and relatively rust free. I also have a very nice set of front doors (rust free, all parts working, no dents) available. I am asking $1,500 for the FJ, $500 for the pair of doors. For sale is an excellent condition 1977 FJ40. I believe I am the fourth owner and all the vehicles time has been spent in the South. I recently had the entire vehicle and hard top painted back to the original blue color and the paint job is excellent. There are some light runs on the dash error, but not at all on the body. The body is clean with no rust issues at all and very little if any Bondo work.
Mileage is around 138k, 4 wheel drive and all gears work great.
Issues:
Emergency break does not work
Radio does not work (blown fuse I believe) but I haven't confirmed
Winch - I don't believe it works but have not checked.

I was originally trying to trade this for another vehicle, but I found one I really want and can't trade for it. So I am open to selling this one for $6,000 in order to purchase the other one. I'm firm on that price. I'd like to get $7k for it - $6k is as low as I will possibly go. Below is the original thread I started, with pictures and full details. Well, the time has come for me to sell my '78 FJ40. This is my 6th Land Cruiser in over 19 years of cruiser ownership. It is by far the best one I have ever owned. It is my preferred year model (1978) with my favorite color (Olive Brown) and has all of the features/upgrades to improve on the already awesome stock offering. In addition, it is virtually rust free and runs great. When I found it, for me it was the "Holy Grail" of cruisers. As crazy as this may sound, therein lies the problem. For me, it is too nice to use like I now want to use a Cruiser. I have long been a TLCA member, but only from afar. Until...
I have a '74 FJ40 that I'm putting up for sale (kids don't have the interest and I don't have the time without family support). The truck is in good shape - I have completed all the mechanical work, but still needs cosmetics (paint/new seats/rhino lining). I just replaced the clutch. Here is a basic listing:

He's owned this for about 7 years now and rarely driven it. Been parked under his carport with one off-roading trip and other than that, just a drive to and from work occasionally. Body has very light surface rust (see pics). Has a Skyjacker lift installed. Five 33x12.50x15 Super Swamper tires on Alcoa wheels. Has hardtop in storage - not in great shape, but it is there. Interior had been 'lined' at some point (before he owned it). Speedo does not work, nor does odometer, but did till just a few years ago (stopped at 72k miles so it is close to that based on the amount of driving it has done...

Damn guys I hate to do it but here it is.
1970 fj40 - not rusted like the rest of them. can drive it. I drive it all the time. went to carlisle truck nationals this year about 60miles away no problems.

3 sp on floor was done b fore i got it
new aluminum radiator i put in at begining of summer
new front end done- I put mini truck disk brakes, new berings seals etc.
rear brake cylinders rebuilt.
all fluids done
could use some tires but...

Need to sell my 40 so that I can finish my FJ55 project. This thing runs great. Needs a good top and drivers door to be sealed up, but the SoCal sun doesn't really need that.

I am not looking to sell this truck - I am only interested in trades. I'm looking for classic cars, convertibles preferred, or other interesting or unique vehicles. Thunderbirds, Fairlanes, classic mercedes, really early Lincolns, '80s porsches, 350Z's, tailfins – you get the idea. Needs to be running and driveable, but doesn't have to be perfect.
