I have decided to sell my 1971 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser. It is a very clean FJ40. It came from an estate in Colorado. It was a one owner truck, and it comes with a bill of sale only because they did not have titles in 1971 when it was purchased new. New owner can get a title for it. I have not messed with it since I am not ready to fix it up yet. Seller told me that it was driven and used on a large ranch in dry southern Colorado since it was new, hence the original 1971 Colorado license plates still on the vehicle. The engine was removed at some point in time. It was pulled apart and comes with the vehicle. The front seats need recovered. It could also use a new upper dash pad. It does have a large dent in rear quarter that should mostly press out. Other than that, it is very clean original truck. It has one spot of rust on the passenger rocker panel where the support tab is welded and it could use some rear sill work. Other than that, the Capri Blue patina is amazing and its one of the cleanest you will see. I also have a running 1971 parts car that I can sell with if you are interested.

Take a look at the photos and let me know what questions you might have. Trucks like this are very hard to find.

Price is $9,300.00.

Reason for selling.
I have since decided to start restoring FJ25 Toyota Land Cruiser's and have purchased 3 of those. I am also doing a frame off restoration on my 1972 fst so this one will be on the back burner for awhile.

I could use the space in my shop. I do not have to sell it, so no low ball offers. I think the price is more than fair and it could be parted out for more than I am asking.

The 58 will. My plan is to put a new Cummins in the hardtop one and leave the patina paint.

That's what I may end up doing with my 67. I just bought a F145 to replace the Chevy 350... but I'd rather have the new 2.8 Cummins diesel for reliability . I'm also leaving the patina on mine and restoring the chaisis...mine is going to be a top , doors off and windshield down most of the time driver.

reliability and plastic oil pan seem to be at odds......id personally hold off on that Cummins until they get some miles on em to see if Cummins has corrected the earlier iterations of these engines issues.

imho- a 1hz or 13bt will be alot cheaper and more reliable. these engines arent underpowered enough in a 40series to warrant the added power or double the expense of the cummins 2.8. for the larger cruisers like 55/60/80s where these lc diesels are a bit gutless.....the hopium is high that the 2.8 can come to the rescue.

but at this point its going to take 15k-30k worth of miles on the r2.8 at a minimum to see where the cookie crumbles. this could take a few years as installs are all starting now. So earliest id feel comfortable on these would be late 2019-early 2020. Even a low mile 1hdt would be alot cheaper route to go than the $11k r2.8 with tranny adapter.

im looking for one to turn into an fzj44. And given the corner and rear sill needing a fixing anyway- this might be a good candidate. lemme see if i can scare up a fj25 parts vehicle to pick up out here so u can trailer this out here and do a swaparoo....

Keep me posted. I am not sure about trailering out there and back though. I would probably rather pay someone. I want to start to clear some of my projects out of the way. This truck is very clean compared to most projects.
