I love this idea! I would be in for an HIH key 100%.

Just a quick 2-3 month update on my YotaMD key: I used to worry about my key breaking. I no longer worry about my key breaking. Need I say more?

3 months rock solid no problem. Very rare you see a product that is well received by literally 100% of users.

Glad to hear you like it! It's quite the transforming modification/upgrade, I think.

I seriously love the (what I like to call) "patina" on these key fobs! I got probably one of the first 15-20 fobs (I think??) so I've had mine since mid-August of '17 and they wear very nicely. Not too much, but IMHO it matches the nostalgia of the 100 Series platform - specifically my truck in particular. You can wear them down and beat them to hell as much as you'd like, but they continue to surpass my expectations every time I use them both! Even after being submerged in a river:mad:

That's great. The black ones wear really well. Yours is one of the early dyed parts. When I started these, I used one service that printed in white and then dyed. The dye is durable, but it will wear over time leaving a nice patina like yours have. The newer black ones are done on a different machine in a black/dark grey with just a final dye to darken it slightly. They should show less patina over time. Some will prefer the old, some the new. Both should remain functional beyond the life of the car.

If anyone manages to break one during use (today, tomorrow or 5 years from now), let me know. A replacement will be on me!

Titanium prices (as with nearly all metals) are on the rise and it may start affecting my pricing. I'm working through some options with my waterjet provider so we'll see where it goes. I was debating a small price decrease, but that probably won't happen now.

On the plus side, my growing pile of Titanium scrap is increasing in value. So there's that, I suppose.

All colors are in stock minus the all-popular black which will be back in stock Monday. If you've got a black order in process you should see it in a week or so!

Got mine today. Artwork. Precision cut, easy assembly. Costs a few dollars, but you really get what you pay for. Worth every penny. Thanks!

Interesting...I wonder if the grey will hold up better. My bday is September and I have been contemplating....

The black and greys definitely hold their appearance better in the long run. The bright colors look AWESOME at first, but definitely show wear/dirt over time. Just have to decide if you want it to look its best up front or years down the road. Also depends how you handle your keys. If you're a mechanic/plumber/field tech, etc... I'd definitely stick with the dark colors.

You're not stuck with any color, though. I sell all the colors separate and you can always mix/match or replace as needed.

HIH QUESTION: Whose all going that may want a special HIH8 fob? I'm thinking it'll only be a handful of peeps from this thread that will be at HIH and buy one, but if there are more I can start a quick reservation list so I make sure to capture the peeps that have been following me on here for some time. The special edition will have the HIH8 windshield design engraved in the back.

Discounted rates for HIH8 attendees only (must pick up at event Thursday - Saturday)
$75 (Cleared Black kit)
$65 (Basic Black kit)
$30 (Cleared Black Plastics only)
$25 (Basic Black Plastics only)

Did you get a lot of orders at HIH?

Did you get a lot of orders at HIH?

Yeah, it went pretty well. More people opted for the non-HIH versions than I thought so I ended up with some left overs.

Did you make it to the event? I asked how many had a fob during the raffle and it was a pretty good number when folks raised their hands. The 'mud crowd is loyal and awesome!

One poor cell phone picture from my Instagram, yes!

It's the windshield logo for all the drivers. I didn't advertise it at all and probably should have (at least some mysterious partial pics). I didn't want to let the hat out of the bag in case Chris and Stan wanted it under wraps before the event.

Awesome HIH8 piece.

Question: Can your blank shells be laser engraved, or are they of a material considered too dangerous (like Kydex)?

Awesome HIH8 piece.

Question: Can your blank shells be laser engraved, or are they of a material considered too dangerous (like Kydex)?

Depends on the laser, I think. The materials I use are generally PolyAmide and it looks like lasers consider that acceptable. I also have dyes or treatments on most colors so you'd have to consider that as well.

When I worked with a commercial laser cutter at work we were careful what we cut because some materials would fog the laser lens and reduce it's effectiveness. The laser could cut it just fine for a while, but it would create a maintenance issue so we avoided certain materials (Polycarbonate comes to mind). We also had a very strong negative pressure ventilation system on the machine so noxious fumes were quickly evacuated. Even with that ventilation the wrong plastic would fog the lens/mirror.

You can create some really nasty vapors with a laser cutter/engraver and plastics so I'd only recommending people try that if they have a very thorough ventilation system. I couldn't guarantee my materials wouldn't create detrimental fumes when engraved/cut.

That all being said, I'm happy to offer custom designs. If you have a 2D file it's real easy for me to add it to a part. If I need to design the graphic I'll need to charge quite a bit more.

I figured I'd wait until I broke another key to buy one of these, but ended up with one from the HIH8 raffle (thanks @suprarx7nut !)

Apart from it not breaking, something about the size and shape makes it feel good to use. Just one of those little things that has made me like my 100 a little more every time I start it up or shut it off this week. I've even been taking it out of my pocket randomly to check it out just because it looks cool. If I had anything else that used the same key style I'd be buying more without even waiting for them to break.

Just wanted to take a second and pile on about the key... ordered and received 2 from Andy, they look and feel amazing, are bombproof, and most importantly are backed by a great community member like Andy. (Had a little overspray issue on one of the keys, Andy responded and fixed it within an hour)

I don’t know why I would need another key with the build quality of these, but if I do, I’ll come straight to ToyotaMD.

Thanks again!

Just here to show off my HIH8 special edition. I already had an orange key so I just got the plastics (no clear coat this time) and it worked perfectly. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, it’s not often that you buy a product that is for the most part flawless for the job at hand. I noticed on the Friday of HIH that my key was a tad loose, so I just snugged the screws back up with an Allen key and was on my way. I bought mine in probably March, so if I need to touch up the tightness on the screws every 4-6 mos, I don’t consider that a problem at all.

Was nice to meet you Andy! Thanks again.

Another completely satisfied customer here. Andy's key shells are top notch. I met up with him last Thursday to pick up a shell to fix a key that was in pieces from a 100 that I recently bought. I couldn't be happier with the quality and durability of his product. I'm also happy to support a local vendor here in CO.

Thank you all for the kind words!

This week has been one of the best for sales since the initial launch last year. Not sure if it's some HIH excitement lingering or Instagram postings catching the right crowd (from customers, not myself - I need to step up my social marketing game), but it's been a good week. This sort of thing helps me invest in larger orders with my domestic suppliers and in the specialized tooling I use at home to complete the metal work on the Titanium. The consistency also helps me order in advance without the fear that I'm going to sit on $1500 in Titanium, plastics and hardware for any length of time.

So thank you to those who've shown support lately, and of course in the past. I'm very grateful and will keep pushing to maintain this level of quality and customer service.

PRODUCT UPDATE: Stone Grey is about to get darker, which is a good thing. Pictures upcoming. Stay tuned.
