"Beefy carabiners?" You mean there are "beefy carabiners"? Hum, must have missed that one. Wouldn't use it anyway, so no big deal.
Seriously though, great job Andy. I just took apart the old broken second key, put everything back together with the kit and everything fit great.
But when I tried locking or unlocking the car it wouldn't work and quickly realized the battery was probably dead.
So for those that need to replace it, it is a CR 1616.
Great job Andy! Thanks.
I think I ordered a blue one but, I am not sure. But, I like the white color even more!
Order placed, excited to get it!!

Got mine, everything went together great. A cool option would be a version that will work with the valet key, with a spot to stick the chip from the card into the key body.
Nice job on the upgraded key body Andy..........just placed my order! RED! Easy to spot.....
I do not buy a lot of things online so I hate to ask this question but will we get a email confirmation when the item is going to ship ? Not in a hurry, just curious...
Ordered an orange one today. Figure it'll be easy to spot. Never thought I'd be so excited about a key.
I encountered the exact same problem trying to figure out which style I had. Couldn't break my key and be without my truck for 2wks so I found a way around it. Check my post #102 on pg.6 of this thread to see my method for finding out while still maintaining the functionality of the key:@suprarx7nut ... not sure what style key I have. Looks like I'm going to have to break it in order to tell. It's my only key Have you any idea which this one might be? Looks like the i version. The blade is anchored in a plastic footing that will need to be broken off to be sure. I can't be without my truck for 2 weeks.

I'll post this up for other people who run into this same issue. But in order to see what key base you have you must crack it out of the OEM shell (at least in my case I had to). Unfortunately, this is my last functioning key for my truck so I cannot risk cracking it out of the shell and then going without a key until the new one comes in. I don't have another car to drive in the meantime either. So I found out if you get a small flathead screwdriver (or X-Acto knife or any blade) you can chisel away at the plastic on one side of the base of the key. If you begin to see metal that extends beyond the width of the key blade, then you have the "T" style base. If not then you have the "I" style base. See the pic below for clarification. In my case the base of the key encased in the plastic is wider than the key blade so I have the "T" style.
