I don't know why that little LR would surprise you. Probably 1/3 of your weight and they were geared for that.
Looks like a good time. I went shooting yesterday in Nanaimo could barely see the target at the range in the snow
hail storm. But I got nothing at home, so thank goodness for that for a change

That ^^ and Duratrac's work well in conditions like you guys were in. Lots of sipping and soft rubber. Narrow tire cuts down to traction which is helpful in shallow snow.

Cool you got out. I'm jealous.

I suspect it was more the general s***tiness of Land Rovers.

Zero flex and axles that break at a stop light even with the 53hp engine.

and that weird ****ing rotten aluminum/cloth wire slightly burnt with hints of racoon orgy smell they all have.

Ah crap!

It was a diesel rover and it actually had limited slips. Duratracs did awesome. But it did weight 4000 I was told???

Could be close to that I suppose? Brits tend to heavier metal in some areas, still cool truck.

I guess Lincoln had already trademarked "Subjugator" 🤣🤣
Well I had to google it but yes, exactly the same. maybe its the difference between Portuguese and English.

The Rover had up graded range rover axles and huge steering components. He says he has ARB's on his bench he's about to install. He had some aftermarket elliptical springs in there too. The axles didn't look small, maybe 9' diffs?

Colonialism the same all over, not specific to any one originator. But it would seem to be a
crappy brand name for that truck

I just got that from the wiki image you posted 😉

Thinking of a Canadian comparable and it's pretty much just a****** white dude.

Doesn't roll off the tongue for a product line 🤣

Any brake wizards out there???

My pedal is super soft when I first apply the brakes then it gets better but then it gets too good the longer I drive it for, eventually keeping the brakes on while driving. Loosing precious 3B power. Even heating up my rims.

My one friend says the booster and another said it might have water in the system heating up and expanding.

Your thoughts?

How's your pedal freeplay?

I had that very symptom. I didn't have enough slack in it.

Wasn't fully releasing so after a bit of driving pressure built up. Had to pull over and adjust on the side of the road because I couldn't make it up a barely noticeable hill

X2

My first thought is the booster pushrod is too long and it's pushing on the brake master cylinder.

When mine was too long the brakes came on strong enough to stop the truck... loosed the mounting nuts and they released immediately.

Booster failure. Incorrect vacuum

I did adjust the pushrod length to a hair before snug. I can loosen it up a turn a turn or two and test that out.

Maybe suck the reservoir out and replace the 20 year old DOT 3?

Then I'll try the booster if that doesn't work but I have a feeling its not the pushrod rod. I have a pile of boosters anyways.

Thanks!

Changing the fluid wouldn't hurt...

I had a total brake failure on the highway (pedal to floor, nothing) that went away when the truck sat for a few hours and cooled.

Cause was a stuck e-brake cable, which heated the brakes enough to turn the tiny amount of water in the old fluid to steam.

Water expands in volume hugely when it vaporizes (something like 1700:1) which if you think about the total volume in your brake system, .25ml of water could displace just about all the fluid if it got hot and turned to steam. A few drops would send a big bubble to the Mc.

Was enough to make my mine useless. Fun times lol

I don't think that's your problem but it definitely put brake fluid flushes higher on my priority list.🤣

Soooo... After asking many people and looking online. It looks like my booster is f-ed. Realizing that I only have the bigger boosters for 60, 80 series and pickups. I'm asking once again to the south island hoarders if they have a collection of them? Or just one that's taking up too much room in their unicorn spare parts department?

Can't get one of those newer ones to fit? I forget what mine is out of in my 40, but it's newer .

EDIT...looked back and it was out of a bj60.

Had to go in upside down, but it fit...

Running an 80 series (upside down) in my 40. I love the extra boost it has compared to a stock 40 series.
