Are you going to put a heat shield over it at least? That's pretty close to the door and I'd hate for someone to brush an arm up against it and burn themselves or melt a jacket.

I kinda dig the stack. That flap sure rattles A LOT though. Almost louder than idle lol.

Yes, heat shield in work.

Yes, the flapper does rattle A LOT at idle. If the stack stays, I might just go with an angled pipe up top instead of the flapper.

Started work on heat shield for the exhaust. Came up with something easy, cheap and should be effective. Found these at Lowes, used 7 1"x48" strips formed around a piece of 4" round ABS pipe. Mounted to exhaust pipe by threaded studs welded to exhaust.

Started to rain and got dark. Will finish welding and paint tomorrow.

I'm not a fan of the stack either. I would go out the back. As far as your cab, I would round the rear corners rather than 90 degreed like u have, it will look much cleaner. The rear window looks silly, plus I'm sure u have a giant blind spot. I would put in a bigger one that maybe slides open. Or use the factory rear window. Little details like that make a huge difference. I like the bed though, it looks great.

I appreciate the feedback, thanks!

well if you don't keep the "stack"...I'm sure you could have the exhaust run down the driver side in some manner and exit behind the drivers side rear tire.

Have you considered adding a second rear axle to the mix and making it a 6x6?

So I'm thinking of going the 6 wheel route again, just in another way....

Fender was from another project, just for visual effect. Don't know how yet or what I'd use, gears in the head are a spinning.:bang:

As for why? Why not, cause I can, and to see if I can do it. I think the world needs a 60 series dually truck.

Why ask why? Just do it! Really dig the dually idea and that is definately unique.

Long time since updating this. The biggest thing I have done since the last post is modify the bed into a step side version.

But....I keep thinking about 6 wheels and 3 axles. I have always thought I may have taken the easy way with the military bed and leaving it 4 wheels. I catch myself always looking at different 6x6 setups, what if I did this or that. Yes the practicality portion of the conversation comes up. But the original plan and intent from the beginning was 6 wheels.

Well work has slowed down and it's time to finish up the body work on the cab. Also need to replace a rear hub, parts on the way. So it's going to be in a down status for a bit. So.....

6x6 attempt #2!
