Have some issues with my steering column on my 60.. There is a 62 column for sale locally ... are they interchangable ??

To my understanding, the mechanicals are the same, however I believe the ignition switch and wiring harness is not the same.

This is correct - reuse your original ignition switch or replace with new 60 one

Yes, they are interchangeable. My ‘85 Fj60 has a ‘88 FJ62 column in it and my Dad’s ‘86 Fj60 has a 62 column also.

Aren’t the switches different?

The FJ60 ignition lock cylinder 8/80-9/87

&

The FJ62 Ignition lock cylinder 10/87-1990

Are different profiles slightly , but most importantly the depression pin you use the hand-held drift-pin with the key in the ACC position to release and remove both ignition lock cylinders are in different locations , and the pin-bore holes are notably different in diameter ...

not sure about the electrical key switch side of things ?

i suppose this might be what was being kid-glove'd below ?
