A fresh motor and a h55. Your going to think its a different truck

Onur, just wanted to say thanks for giving me a thread to waste the last hour of my life on instead of doing something productive. I'm very impressed with all the attention to detail. It completely contrasts with the exterior of your 80. Also, very impressed with all your Belgian beer references. I didn't know what I was missing until I spent a few days in Belgium last year and have never looked back. I'm glad we got that Total Wine near Cottonwood Mall so I can easily satisfy my snobby need for Leffe, Kasteel, Duvel, Piraat. Now if they would just get some Grimbergen I'd be really happy. I need to try a St. Bernadus since you referenced it a feew weeks back.

Onur--

Very inspiring. Brings back memories and makes me wish I would have bought more new parts. Maybe next time....

Onur,

Wipe off the jizz stains off that engine... :)

I knew your mind would go there when you saw this.

;)

How's philosophy going? Have you discussed Book 7 of Plato's "Republic": Allegory of the Cave?

Your twisted man you!! ;)

Glad I could contribute to some non-productivity Marc.

Another you absolutely have to get and drink: Tripel Karmeleit.

Probably the best Belgian on the planet.... Also one of the oldest and still made by monks.

Tripel Karmeleit.

YES! Tried a sip of it. Never got a full bottle. The colleagues that had it said it was astounding. The place we stayed for those 3 days had something like 100 beer choices, mostly from Belgium and Netherlands. I was even more impressed that he had the appropriate glass for every brand. Despite my best efforts, I only tried about 10 different things. I don't know if you ever have a reason to go to Belgium but I highly recommend this place: Hotel De Watermolen

Not yet. Apparently the legs just fly apart automagically when you say the right things, LOL!!

Took care of some small things while I waited for paint to dry, parts procurement, and my manifolds to get here from CA..... And a quick MRI on my knee . :( Surgery is imminent.

That said, it really is the small things that make or break these projects.

Notice, for example the little spacers on the side cover for the coolant hard line:

Also, for example, the small rubber hanger under neath the PS engine mount for where the hardline is bracketed for the lower radiator hose going to the water pump:

New hose clamps every where of course. What I love about Toyota parts are the little things--like the keepers on this radiator hose clamp:

New carby connection nut and olive. The hardline is discontinued from Toyota for all F/2F iterations, so be careful with the one you have or you will be running around having one made.

Also, got some new 8mm ID Toyota fuel line and clamps. New parts make all the difference. This fuel line is cut to fit and will work on the inlet, return and carby connections.

Notice the 2 small brackets that "hold" the metal fuel line. These are important and easily looked over.

Old hose an new hose. This is cut to fit at the fuel pump to carby hard line.

Upper radiator hose spring style clamps. Upper and lower rad hoses receive different style clamps.

PCV valve and grommet installed:

It's the little things that make using Toyota parts so nice. Look at the yellow mark that they make on their hoses so that you can match them up correctly with the casting mark on the water pump for the lower rad hose coming into the pump:

Make sure you don't set that Olive prematurely. I did.
I set it too far back and had to cut line because the nipple was too long. I was afraid it might leak.
But then again, I had a brand new OEM hard line with no previous Olive set marks. :flipoff2:

Thanks Joe. It is currently very loose there. I am going to engage with carby to see how it goes once the manifolds go on and the carby gets put into place.

Today is xfer case teardown, inspection day. All new gaskets, seals, and input and output bearings currently. It will also receive a new switch, shift lever boot, 7 long bolts will be renewed and 8 new output studs.
