A properly balanced 2F is a wonderful thing... You won't believe how easy and smooth it rev's. You gonna balance the Flywheel/Pressure plate/Disc ?

Not sure yet. Flywheel has been machined and plate/disc are procured. How does the balancing work? Outsource it I assume?

Yes. Same place that machined the FW should be able to do it. They'll balance as a rotating assy, bolted together, then mark how it goes together, so you can reassemble in balanced config. The 3-2-1 hash on the FW correspond to the center-punch dots on the PP.

Got the timing cover gasket in place with FIPG. Definitely mandatory on a job like this.

Installed timing cover. Gotta be careful to put the correct length bolts into there they go. Also recommend using a JIS screwdriver on the screws for the cover. Looks nice IMO.

A road trip at least as far is Moab is mandatory. I'll meet you there with my FJ62, which will look like the twin of your truck. Then we can have a drag race.

Can I second this motion?

It's looking amazing brother! January 3 is just a bit away....

I'm not sure if this is what Output Shaft is referencing or not in the manual, but if I remember correctly (and you may have done this), aren't you supposed to put the Harmonic balancer on to 'center' the timing cover around the crank snout?

Noob question, what's this "JIS screwdriver" mentioned in post 285?

my guess is a phirrips screwdriver...

Japanese Industrial Standard: our nuts and bolts and screws are all manufactured to JIS.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_Industrial_Standards

Our Phillips screw drivers do not have the correct angles which is why many of our screws get damaged upon removal or installation.

I bought a few sets from here: http://www.vesseltools.com/

Vessel is actually the OEM tool supplier in Japan for Toyota dealerships for OTC tools. Very cool.

I know this is not for your benefit but maybe others. This can be an issue for some if they are not that intimate with an F engine.
The cam and crank gears have an oiler (shown). This oiler should NOT be installed as shown, screwed past the backing plate. This will cause a gap between the screws and cause an oil leak. Use some thread locker and position port per the FSM. The plate needs to be 100% flush to the block. (Picture taken to illustrate.)

Thanks brother. I owe a lot of my progress to you for getting a fire under my butt and helping me pull everything when you came through.

You are with me in spirit as I put this sucker back together.

No worries. Anything for a great friend and person. If I have time after my restore I might have to road trip the 60 to help put the engine in.
