Too bad none if it is gold cad any longer. All the silver stuff now.

I'm trying to save the lad some money....

Some time back I vowed to cease giving him sage and useful advice because it fell on deaf ears.

Just because I vowed it doen't necessarily mean it actually happened....

Besides if I had actually suggested you toss the 2F overboard you would have spent even more money on it than you already have.......:hillbilly:

Here I goooooo.

:flush:

I'll take the very reliable 2F with it's prehistoric design, anemic HP, nice low end torque and quirky issues in a heartbeat over anything controlled by an ECU or that runs on diesel... as where I take the cruiser (Baja Mexico) diesel is harder to come by in small towns, and if when something goes haywire with the computer krap.. (which I have experienced with a non-toyota dying in baja) more likely than not, the end result is ALWAYS bad. REAL BAD. You are lucky to get out of there alive.

If the 2F was available new today, I would buy it over ANY new engine available today without even blinking an eye.
I think it is the perfect engine for what I use the cruiser for. I wish it still was available new.

I ordered the following:
90080-11220
90080-11230
90080-11231
90080-11251
90080-11260

Overkill?

Yeah. Oh well. They will go back to Toyota if not used.

WTF is with the bolt PN's anymore? What was wrong with using the diameter & length as the PN? Are the dimensions of the fasteners encoded in any of the PNs above?

It pretty much is. When beno is done, you'll have a nice parts list to have a *new* one yourself.

I'm not going to lie, I like where you are going with the bolts for the pan. While they may not be gold anymore, new hardware means that you get to put the old hardware in that magic bucket of extra Toyota Fasteners! And that's a very handy thing, sometimes.

Nope.

Changes in sourcing (to domestic vendors in many cases such as this) dictate new part numbers.....

I don't like it either by the way.

Old systen:

91611-60820....

91611 = bolt with captive lock washer.

Next postion "6" = hardness.

Next two positions "08" = diameter in mm.

Last two postions "20" = length in mm.

New system:

90080-11251....

A domestically-sourced fastener, lightbulb, seal, clip, or whatever.

Totally logical......:bang:

No kidding,
The PN's for bolts, washers, and nuts seem to be all over the place.
I bet they ran out of logical PN's a long time ago and had to devise a new numbering scheme based on a system we mere mortals were never meant to worry our little heads over.

But what really bakes my noodle is that many of the replacement bolts more often than not are the wrong length… obviously because the original ones are NLA. What we get is the next closest fit… sometimes barely. These are not updated bolts designed for the land cruiser, but sloppy seconds that were designed for the Camy, Sequoia, Tacoma or whatever. But I guess we should be gratefull that anything is available at all after 25 yrs. & at least the head bolts & manifold bolts are still right on.

There are just too many different vehicle variations (down to individual VIN specs), too many suppliers with too many markets with too many minute differences based on manufacturing specs.

This same conversation is going on in a number of different manufacturer cult groups as well. Each of them are having a different similar experienece.

I can't wait to see this 2F back up to speed and running strong. It's commitment. All these new parts are sexy.

Approximately when is the first fire date? I'll be there if I can.

Thanks Andy. No idea on start up date but shooting to have it running and good by January 3rd.

I'd go with 90080-11251.

That's a 5T 8x20 with a captive lock washer.

Correct. Definitely the one it seems. I got 14 in today and the remainder backordered.

I'm going to test fit it tonight but it seems to be the winner. 25mm in length.
