So when can we start petitioning for new 2F/3F crate engines from toyota? :)

Ferrous Toyota parts: Are Today's parts produced with the same metallurgy and ore suppliers as when manufactured in the 1980's? If not, can Toyota honestly call it an OE part? Is it not, in part, the metallurgy that makes these rigs so special?

Well, I am going to assume that it is like what Joe said: These are sitting on a shelf somewhere in Japan and they plucked them out and sent them to me--at least that's what it seemed like since it took 5 weeks to get a full set of supports.

:)

Small update.

Started building the rocker/support/arm/springs assy.

Missing the final two arms on the end. Those should be here next week and I can finish the assy and bolt her on.

The old setup on the support arms was a different arm for where the oil comes up through the head and oils the supports/arms/shaft.

The new setup by Toyota is that the part numbers for the supports all supersede to the oil hole style so you would have, ostensibly, all supports oiled as oil comes up through the main support at #4. I like the change at least on paper.

Anyway, everything installed was new OEM except for the springs between the arms. Those are discontinued so I cleaned up the old springs and reused. Not much choice there.

Slow work on my end. Rocker shaft and arms finished. New adjusting screws and nuts. I really love how everything just fits perfectly with new parts. I don't have to worry about anything not fitting. Everything is just uber perfect.

This thing is going to look very nice when it's done. Threw the VC on it just for a quick "ah..." moment Hope it runs too!

Getting some head in the living room. I like it.

That is a very nicely furnished shop you have there Onur:)

I miss the days of engine assembly in my living room! My wife has to draw the line somewhere I guess. It is looking awesome by the way.

It's just a lot easier being inside, in AC, in a "clean" environment putting things together.

Hope to get the manifold assy together tonight and the carby insulator on tonight.

I like the inside assembly too. The garage gets too messy during a big project and you can bring in bits a little at a time. Super fun. What about the block? Is it ready to start on yet?

Hi Andy:

Block is still on stand. I am waiting my turn at a local mom/pop machine shop that ACC uses and has had great results in previous 2F builds.

They mainly do racing engines, and summer is racing time. They hope to get my block in near the end of August with a 1 week turn around.

That's fine; I don't have any parts yet from JimC and I realistically don't expect them back any time soon.

Going to take the down time to send the PS gear box out to Redneck Ram in Texas as well and get that buttoned up too.

Then, move to the H55F/split case assy during the down time and spend lots of time cleaning the engine bay, change out to a new brake master and new clutch master, new coil, figure out what might be going on with ARB's, etc. So basically, I still have lots to do while the engine is out and I can easily access everything.

A very small update.... My life is too busy to be spending too much time on my engine unfortunately.

Carby and dizzy will be here on Monday from JimC. Can't wait. :)

Block and all new components will be heading to machine shop on Monday. Should be done by early October. :)

I was drinking a Leffe last night and decided to play a bit more on the head.

Correct orientation of thermostat and gaskets. :)

Oh yeah, forgot about the cool OEM plugs for the BVSV's.

I like it a lot when there are OEM solutions for these types of things.

Are those the same dimensions as the air injector plugs?

What do they accomplish?

They're different size. People use 1/2" NPT, but I think the Toyota plug is the correct METRIC size, that's why it screws nearly flush with the t'stat housing. Different part # for the AI plugs.

That plug is also for the port in the late 40s /FJ60 intake manifold on the runner to the right of the carb.

I'll have to take a look and see if they would have a function on a 3fe...

The older you get the more you should do it all and do it right. You may not get another chance. Take the advise of a 60 year old
