I thought it was a good idea. Nice thinking Dan!

I know right?

It's too bad I have approximately zero photoshopping skills. Because I could provide a pictorial demonstration of just how good of an idea it is.

I wear coveralls in the shop, so no need for me, but for someone who "meh's" coveralls and gloves..... The gown is practical in every way imaginable. Stylish too.

Don't. Then you will be at least a 3 day drive from any real wheeling. That's the sucky part of living out here.
That's how I feel living in Austin.

I got the last one. New. OEM. Awesome.

<Above> A definite benefit with your job - and yes, haters love to hate, lol.

Well, I got a cool update from Brian and Michael over at ACC today.

Beautiful work I must say.

Manifolds cleaned. Intake powdercoated clear and the "TEQ" powdercoated black. :smokin: Exhaust manifold was painted with heat resistant paint. New upper and lower gaskets, new exhaust springs and rings too. After I get it on Weds., it will receive all new hardware/studs. :)

Now, onto the transfer case.

:)

The pictures speak for themselves. Thanks again to Brian and Michael, and to Georg for the bearing set for the transfer case. Can't say enough about how thoughtful they are working on Toyota Land Cruisers. They pay attention to detail and that's why they are so good at what they do. Anyone in the SE who needs a shop should always put ACC at the top of their list.

I will pick these up on Weds. as well and bring home. Since I am still unable to pick up heavy parts, I will be letting the assy sit for a bit while I recover and do some PT. Once I feel able to, I will mate to the 2F and things will get rolling!!

Beautiful pro work Onur. Really looking forward to the install and first fire.

Just curious-was the manifold still ok inside when it was opened up?

And...glad you are recovering and getting back to it.

It looked great Andy. Funny-- Brian was going to have the manifolds planed and he said that they were exactly perfect. First one they have seen that wasn't new. I think this one was pretty new when that 2F was pulled out. I lucked out man--I owe you big time Andy. Thank you again for such a good part.

Since you know everything and have it apart. Does anything hold the high low "thingy" from falling into the case when not connected?

No!

I'm doing a t-case right now too, and I almost found this out the hard way:D

Having the thrust washer stuck to the idler shaft gives me bad mojo. I always stick it to the case with MP Grease per the FSM. That said it looks like the case went together fine. Looks beautiful.

While you are on the topic of transfercases, can the hi-lo selector go in at different orientations? My FJ62 transfer case has it 90° counterclockwise from where is sits on my early FJ60 34mm case, which is more similar to where yours is.

It was hard having a transmission/T-case combo on the garage floor and not rebuilding/beautifying it... I am too eager to get it in the truck!

It is locked in to that position, one orientation only. The 62's was in a different position.

If you think about the t-case lever in the truck, the 62's lever only moves N-S, and only selects high/low. The 60's moves N-S & E-W, with the high/low being in the E-W position.

This is a good point. If the thrust washer finger is not in the groove on the transfer case, then preload for the idler gear is going to be all wrong, on top of allowing the thrust washer to spin in the case.

Let's just trust that ACC did it correctly :D

I think it was just there for the photo op or for safe keeping.

Wouldn't the high/low fork need to be in too?

beautiful work. I'm just following along with envy.

BTW, its getting mighty close to Jan 3rd

Unfortunately, no start up will be happening any time soon. Surgery really took a lot out of me physically and I will need a bit of PT before I start moving around 200lbs of metal!!

:)
