Having finished installing the new leaf springs I received from Man-a-fre on Friday I moved on to installing the Downey auxiliary tank and a transfer pump. I discovered that the fuel separator has a broken pipe, which explains the obviousness that my nose has been telling me to investigate the past few weeks. Bummer.

I have a wide range of adhesives in the shop and, maybe, just maybe I can repair it. In the mean time I sent out a few requests for a replacement.

strange fender

Unbolted the flywheel only to find the collector for the SOR two piece headers prevents me from removing it.

Only options are to pull the oil pan it cutting the exhaust to get it out.

Pulling the pan will be the less expensive option.

Cutting the exhaust will be the faster option, but will basically commit me to replacing the exhaust (which is on the list to be done at some point)

Too late now , but I had a muffler shop weld in a pair of flanges on mine so that section could be unbolted

I have spent the last week collecting more parts for my 72 fj40. I have been to 3 states in a week and came out with some pretty good stuff. I bought a 68 fj40 for parts from Alabama., I then bought a "New" set of rear quater panels from someone in Tennessee. They came from coolcruisers but was still in the box., I also went a little futher north and bought a Disc brake front end out of a 76 fj40. I still need some fenders. Still looking.........

returned the fuel cutoff solenoid I had borrowed from my 40's weber. needed it to get my DD running to get to work the other day.

Other than that just looked through a photo set going back 10 yrs and thoguht about all the good times and trips in that 40. Then felt guilty about the truck being parked all last year. Motivates me to get it on the road again for this summer...

nice

BTW, your windshield bumpers on the hood are in the wrong direction - the higher end is supposed to face the windshield

. A few weeks ago finally got the back of the Jackson cage welded on to convert to a family cage. Also fab'd a harness bar for the kids that is removable. I though it was a pretty cool idea.

Replaced the water pump, thermostat and lower radiator hoses. Glad I got it done before the cold weather came back in.

First drive since frame off

Took it for a 10 mile test-drive and did some minor adjustments. It was 63 degrees here on Monday and 10 now. Motivation enough to start thinking about the TOP.

New to me gear reduction starter from orangeFJ45 installed-works great so far. New Aisin Clutch master installed-still need to bleed the system. Started replacing all the non-OEM color coded wiring that has been installed over the years

I looked at it sitting in the Spa . . .

and I re-took my first hillclimb, taken almost exctly 10 years ago in the 40, today with the LX - wishing all the time I had the 40 to wheel; 80 series are just too long in the rear  ;p

I have some very clean fiber glass ones: https://forum.ih8mud.com/sale-parts...duty-fiberglass-front-fenders-very-clean.html

broke a trail...

I used the 40 to break a trail through the driveway. We didn't just get dumped on last night; the drifting is crazy! Even after breaking up the drifted driveway, I still got the Jetta stuck. A neighbor tried to clear the end of our driveway and got stuck. I ended up pulling him out three times. I still made it to the post office in time to send out some hinges.

Even with 35" bfgs, the axles were scraping everywhere.

Louie does NOT like the snow.

I put the repaired heater core back in and made my own stylish defrost hoses from some hot tub tubing I got from lowe's:

Nothinghead,

I like the way you think LoL. I was just in Idaho over Christmas and needed a defrost hose for the right side of the FJ40. Found my hose @ ACE Hardware!:p
