Another busy weekend in the garage! On Saturday, igotta40 came over and helped change out my TREs and adjusted the brakes (actually he did most of it) while coops2k sorted out the wiring. Today I got the tach working, the tail lights attached, and am starting to form a plan on how I want to deal with the rest of the wiring. I think for the time being I will just get the lights and horn working so I can get it inspected. A full harness replacement will have to wait until I figure out what phase 2 of the rennovation will entail - stereo, aftermarket gauges and cluster, additional interior lighting, alarm system, etc....

The Death Wobble under 40mph is solved, and I hope to have the lights working by next weekend. Might be ready to take it to work after that.

Front end ALMOST buttoned up after installing a SOA 60 series axle with shackle reversal.
Did the 10 in pipe cap too for diff protection.:hillbilly:

Headlights, tail lights, and brake lights work now. Still fussing with the blinker circuit....

This week was the first time I had touched my 40 in a long while. I took the Master Clutch cylinder off, plan on taking the slave off and then I'll be ordering parts to fix that hydraulic system. After that comes some saving for body work.

Fixed the rear two speed 40 heater that I got with some other parts for $15. It needed some tlc and the armature out of my original rear heater.
:D

Installed twin sticks on the Orion:

We finally drove it, after 1 year in my garage, 1.5 years at PO who never started it, and guessing about 7 years of not driving prior based in last set of tags I found.

Here is my 16 year old son driving it down the driveway.

Now that I can drive it out into the driveway I can start sanding the body and doing the body work. Wife does not want all that dust in the garage (Neither do I)

Congrats!

Sounds nice. Good work!

Brainstormed....

Putting 1 tons under the 40. 4 link rear/3 link front, coilovers, ordered a 22 gal Jaz fuel cell, picked up the 700R4, getting ready to get the Atlas, Raceline beadlocks, and 4Dee" rubber.

Poor cruiser doesn't get wheeled much in it's current form, although there isn't much more you can get for it like it sits. The wifey wants something to pimp around at the desert races and crawling comps, so it's going bigger. It will also be a support rig/recovery rig for us at 4400 events.

Staying full body, just towers thru the rear tub for CO's. Keeping it nice, not getting beat down. It will double as a parts rig for my buggy if needed.

installed a starter, it went out the first time my girlfriend rode in it, and the first trouble ive had with it besides like turnsignal issues/tail lights... I am finishing up a painless wiring harness i need to air up a tire and check my tcase fluid because ive never done that...

I'm in the process of painting the engine. I'd like to show you guys some pictures of my 3 year restoration progress on my 40 but I'm too computer dumb to know how to do it.

Pulled my cage and body body off. drilled and tapped holes for my rear tail gate. finished my tranny tunnel. goes to sandblast in the morning, should be going to line-x thursday night and get it back saturday night.

Moved the 40 into the barn after I primed it last weekend. Waiting on CCOT parts and then it goes to the body shop for painting in two weeks.

Filled out the correct paper work, filed the right forms with the BMV and I now have a 1969 year of manufacture 1969 license plate to go with my 1969 FJ
