Where did you go in Houston?
Off of Franklin St. downtown. Couple blocks from Post, where Coffee & Cars meets first Saturday of every month. We are there for about half of the events per year. We should meet there sometime?

Sounds good it looks like the next is December 9. I didn’t know there was a C&C downtown. I’m over by Ellington Airport. Marking my calendar.

It’s a pretty packed venue, especially now that it’s not 110F outside! A half dozen times when I’ve gotten there early enough (7:30-45am) they‘ve directed me to park the 40 in the restricted area with the exotics, which was rather surprising! She’s just your average rig! 😂

@78crzr Average rig? Nah, looks super sweet and those exotics have nothing on it. Years ago we always did a 2 day ride to Daytona Bike Week from New Jersey. As we pass thru the toll booth at the Delaware Memorial Bridge the lady in the booth said, “ I’ve seen a lot of motorcycles passing thru here today….BUT YOU'RE THE ONLY TWO RIDIN’ THEM!. Yep, it was snowing lightly

Safe to say that entire ride was cursed with just wind and rain. In Georgia there were over 100 riders in the welcome center praying to the weather channel on TV looking when the rain would stop…there was hail and crazy wind the rest of the way south. We stayed at Palm Coast which is about 25 mile north of Daytona and was a “fancy” kind of hotel. We get off of the motorcycles dripping in wet heavy leather and trodding thru the lobby. My friend Bob apologizes to the desk clerk for looking so disheveled. the clerk replied to him..” don’t feel too bad, during the hail storm these guys were spread eagle over the hoods of their Ferraris’ 🤣

Your FJ40 was the premier vehicle in the parking area!!!

My bro in law has a raggedy 40 project truck. I’m here for suggestions for Christmas presents.
For example: I’ve got an 80, so fusible links, egr plate, etc…would all be reasonable asks for me that don’t sound like “Delta Vehicle Systems Swingout Bumper.”

Depending on the year you could get a cup holder setup like this one I have in 1977 FJ40 or their are other options. Something I use pretty much every time I get in the truck.

Lighting upgrade kit allowed me to switch to headlights with the ability to switch out bulbs instead of entire light and kept the OEM look. Came with 2 lights, full harness, zip ties and lithium grease for $18.03 (if you look on most sites it’s advertised as $100 but if you have a local Toyota dealer I’d go there) I ordered mine from my local Toyota dealers website.

Depends how long he's had it and where he's at.
More tools are always welcome and can last a lifetime.
A metric socket set & spanners, Grease gun, JIS screwdrivers, and a digital voltmeter are essential, but often left until its too late.
Blind spot convex mirrors are another thing that gets left until you hit something

Finished welding up, painting and installed my new cage. I bought the base cage from metaltech. i love their family cage. I then added my own side bars to mount the seat as well as a cross bar at the dash, a shoulder belt bar and a X bars and a few taco brackets.

That’s looks great!
You most likely have seen some drivers in positions that defy good visibility like the nearly reclined seats of some of the “buzz bomb” Hondas I have seen around here. I need my seats to be high and upright so I can see easily over the hood. Whether or not it is foam compression or something else, this got resolved easily by raising the rear mounts on my FJ40.

Cut 2 of theses blocks of 1 1/4” square tubing and drilled the appropriate sized M12 holes. this worked perfectly and does not crunch your stomach into the steering wheel.

Great, I’ve been looking for a good a solution. Thanks

That looks great, have you tested it?

Any issues not using the included harness?
No I haven’t had issues but my wiring harness is in pretty decent shape. If you install the lights without using the harness and notice the brightness of the headlights changing with your rpm I would use the harness or if your wiring isn’t in good shape it’s a plug and play alternative with fuses.
