Grill update for my BJ40. Removed the grill mesh with the emblems attached. Spent several hours stripping and cleaning many years of dirt, grime and old repaint touch ups from the emblems. I masked off the Toyota lettering and then spray painted the grill and shoulders of the Toyota emblem with black spray paint. The chrome letter trim and letter infill areas were taped off for this stage of painting. After painting the grill and shoulders of the letters black, I removed the masking tape and proceeded to layer in Testors red paint on the Diesel letters of the emblem. I used a syringe with a 22 gauge needle. It worked very well. For the Toyota emblem I mixed a combination of beige and pale yellow Testors paint in order to achieve a warm gloss yellow tone. I then layered the paint in to the lettering. The end result turned out great. Next step is to seal everything with an acrylic clear coat.WHYD to your Cruiser this week?
Looks great. I noticed the case of brake clean, can never have too much of that around.Stripped the BTB bumper of all the powder coat and painted it satin nickel. Mounted the 8274 on it and bolted it to the '76, then spooled up 100' of 3/8" rope. Have to get longer bolts for the hawse.

Bona-fide redneckness thread material right there!
That's how we used to do it! So much faster!
Did you buy those recently or did you already have them. I need to find a pair.I finished up my wiring harness build and installation and got my barn doors adjusted and the catch pin hole located and drilled so those pieces will be ready for paint.

The use of a syringe and needle is very accurate and clean. In my opinion, the best way to do this type of painting.Great job mate!
May I ask why you didn't use a paint brush?
