Looks iconic…Serengeti Iconic. Kashmir Iconic. Sahara Iconic….
I don’t know, I like yours with a hardtop more. I think the soft top would look far better on my rig… :D

Historically I’ve hated the soft tops I’ve had on my rig. The ‘Best’ Top I had on my rig flapped, leaked, and was a pain to take off and on. I found it easier to run a rigid ‘Bikini’ top in the summer and a Hardtop the other 8 months a year. I’ve had my eye on factory tops for a few years… maybe one day I’ll make my own. There’s no way I can justify the $$$ to buy one for a few weeks a year that I’m not running a hardtop or topless… at least not yet anyway.

You’ll have to give us a full rundown on how you like it once it’s worn and shrunk to fit.
I toyed with the bimini and bikini tops, but, ultimately settled on the old school top. I’ll give a run down at the end of summer. The only thing so far I don’t like is when I removed the hardtop my drivers side dirt came out of adjustment and that’s a huge pain in the ass to re-adjust.

I tried the bikini top for about ten minutes. Just didn’t care for it. The ”OST” just looks right. Well done.

I perfer the FST Toyota imported to the US with easy to remove soft doors. Just something about removing the top and still having hard doors. Personally I would not run hard doors on the factory soft top hinges. Not sure the stronger quick removable aftermarket hinges are still available. I have zero experience with aftermarket style factory bows but can not see them being as stout as the factory bows. I can stand on the running board and grab the B bow and rock the cruiser side to side with no flex.

Finally put on the soft top…The Jury is still out on whether or not I like it yet, but, it’s growing on me.View attachment 3053054View attachment 3053055
You cannot go wrong either way, what a beautiful 40! Love the soft top, I vote soft top in summer/fall, and hard top back on once winter hits for the occasional cool winters day exercise drive. I assume a vehicle of that caliber doesn't see much road time in the winter months?

I agree summer and fall…the look is really growing on me!! Old Poncho (as my wife calls it) saw enough rough PNW winters and now either hibernates inside or snowbirds to AZ with us during winter.

Finally got my tub primed! Have some body work and some additional things to add on, but happy to have it finally sealed.

I have made it no secret that my first land cruiser was a brand new FJ40 in 1974 and with life getting full attention, it took 48 years for me to start dating a new one (to me). It’s been here in my driveway only 2 months yet …no matter when someone delivers a package: Amazon, Post Office, FedEx or UPS…they comment on the Land Cruiser, had a pole barn built last month and each crew from the ground guys to the metal guys and the concrete guys …they commented on the Land Cruiser, had 3 building inspectors stop by…they commented on the land cruiser, the dump truck guys who delivered fill dirt and stone…they loved the land cruiser and spent 20 minutes talking and when I take it out on the road, people flash lights ( like there are cops ahead) and wave at me …. Very cool!!

One gets used to the adulation after a while

Get used to it. Pumping gas into it will never be the same again either. People always chat me up when I fill up. Heard the "my dad, grandpa or uncle had one of those" stories more times than I could possibly remember. All part of the game, enjoy the attention.

@cruiserkev oh geez, am I the grandpa? I had one at 21 and one at 69…..AGH!

You know I still have not figured out which of these Bilsteins to get? I did buy a set of 4 shackles and greasable pins from cruiser corp on sale so I guess the best way is to install them first. Do you have a number on these shocks you’d enjoy sharing?

These are the 5125s for lifted FJ40s. Hope they are worth the pretty pennies I spent. Gone are the days of $25 shocks! 😵
