So back at the end of April I installed a oil catch can in the PCV line just to gage the ring blow by. I checked it today. I have only driven it in May and August so a total of about 300 to 400 miles and here are the results. Well at least it still runs great !!!

great to see, where did you source the axle and ballpark cost?
Nice…I have a pair of BJ74 axles on my 40. They work great and allowed me to use the parking brake with the H55F!

Now I’ll have to decide if I finish my Faria Voltmeter install or change direction and wire in a circuit & oil pressure gauge. Either way there’s some fiddling involved. Thanks for the info… it’s a great option.

Removed manifolds and found a crack I had no idea was in the exhaust mani. I'm no expert welder and it took some experimenting with the settings on the Lincoln 180 Mig to get the voltage right for flux core. Way better than it was... Should I cut the exhaust heat vent thing out and weld a bolt head in it? Looking for a cleaner look than that useless junk hanging off the side. + a $64k question for the experts...What is wrong in this picture (besides my sloppy welding)?

Are you gonna mig some nuts onto those broken studs? The heat from the welding just might loosen them up.
Big washer first, nut after that. Much easier than nut only.

Over the last month I have spent time replacing the towel wraps for tools used by the previous owner in Louie. I found a WWII kit bag and some old beige webbing in my parents home and I re-purposed it. I do have an OEM tool kit however don't feel comfortable leaving in the 40 if I'm leaving it unattended. It is hard to replace.
Pup posed while I was evaluating the oncoming storm. Also finally got around to welding a nut on the broken emissions equipment bolt. Prepped the sides for paint on the 74’. Gave in and placed an order at Red Line Land Cruisers as well for their CNC’d Holley Sniper adapter, heat shield, and other odds and ends for the 2300 EFI install. All going on the red 74’ beach cruiser for the Outerbanks home.

continuing on with my cap: placed the seam sealer (3m self leveling). it was a bit of a learning curve in that it comes out clear and against the gray primer makes it extremely difficult to judge the level of the sealer in the gutter. needless to say, it got a bit too deep where I started on the back section but not so bad that i need to remove it. overall, it really works nice and is easy to apply once you buy the gun. one other note: one tube got me about 3/4 around the cap before i ran out. even considering i filled heavy on the back section, i don't think one tube would be enough to get a good fill unless your rivets are very flush and your able to do a very shallow, uniform bead.

I tried heat and “patience” for a week amd they still broke off. Dropped it off at a machine shop today. I contemplated welding a stud and trying that but have too many other priorities and no more patience for broke off bolts. Hoping I can find OEM replacement bolts. Let the web trolling fun begin.

Finally got the rigging in place in order to set the PTO winch in position:

Getting there. The rest of the parts for the Holley Sniper 2300 EFI are on their way from Red Line Land Cruisers.

Drove it to get the kids ice cream at a local produce/dairy stand. Still mine for a bit longer so may as well drive it. About 500 miles on it since I finished the restoration and no problems to report.
