Purchased some tires on Tuesday for the 40 series.
They are Kuhmo 30x9.5x15. Going to try these out and see how they feel.

The power steering gear is a bit longer than the manual one but the manual heat shield will work on it with minor modification of the mounting brackets.

Good to know. But I don't know if it would be easier to fab something up or try to find a stock heat shield. I had to take off the heat shield off of my mini truck because it wouldn't fit with the headers installed. I guess I will need to find a solution for both.

Got up before sunrise, linked up with my buddies with their Cruisers and caravaned across town to a
”Cars and Coffee” met at Jacksonville’s Avenues Mall. More than a 1,500 cars at this event last month and looked to be about that many this month despite the 40% chance of rain in the forecast. When we arrived we were ushered to the center of the event and into the area reserved for “featured” show cars; what a hoot! Guess they don’t get too many vintage Cruisers at the event. Had a blast but retreated early when the weather radar show that our escape window was closing fast. That’s the price we pay for going topless in Florida.

Went to the Gunnison Car Show. Got stuck next to Kitty. Had a blast and met a bunch of cool people.

My 40 has been a little sluggish to start recently. The battery tested bad, and it was old, so I got a new one. A few weeks later and it’s sluggish to start, AGAIN. Tested the alternator and it was putting out 8 volts! Since I have a 327 SBC conversion, the parts guys always struggle to come up with a replacement. Lots of internet searching and learning what a “one wire setup” means. Anyway a new alternator is in and it starts better than ever.

Did you go with the 1 wire? I much prefer the 3 wire units. If your block has the bolt pattern option, look into a pmgr starter; the one I use is from a late 90’s (?) suburban; those crank really fast.

Its the room light switch that turns on the vader light and dome light, depending on the year.
Good deal, I was thinking it must control some sort of light. There appears ro be a light on the passenger side of the glove box. It's hidden behind the grab handle in my picture.
