Installed the Kenwood dmx1057xr double din in my resto mod FJ40. Super tight fit. But I also fired up the cab power so I got to see my dakota digital light up for the first time.

Some how the wiring has turned into a rats nest. I'm not sure how I'm going to organize it before I call it done. Speaking from newly gained experience, if you are rewiring in a new fuse box, MAKE ALL THE WIRE CONNECTIONS LONGER THAN YOU THINK!!!

Where did you find that heat shield for your steering box?

It was on the 40 when I purchased it from the salvage yard. These are the brackets that mount it.

Wanted a knob for the dome / interior lights.

So I cobbled one together and it turned out a switch would be needed as well.

I happened to have a two position fan switch, so I married the set and all is well in knoberville.

I absolutely love cooking s*** like this up for people who might think it's not possible...

Built hoses for the hydro boost braked. Two nights ago was setting up the keyless ignition but I need to tap into the brakes for a brake signal. I've had zero pressure so I unscrewed the brake clevis so I was definately bottoming our the push rod instead of hitting the floor.

I bled the MC, followed by all the fittingon the portioning valve. Found two brake leaks from loose fittings. Now I have super firm brakes...and that's before I pressurize the hydro boost. Looking forward to the first drive!

I struggled with the bugger is what I did. Struggled and struggled and struggled.

Problem seems to be engine mountings. The only correct one I have is the right rear, but have been unable to get the correct replacement ones for the other three. This is leading to vibration problems and fan hitting the shroud. I am going to have to find somebody to make them for me.

Is there anybody out there who can please measure the front two and the left rear for me. Just the height should be OK.

I dont have model numbers (let me know if you need it). We have a local hot rod shop, Dreamers Rods and Pickups. Jamie took a bunch of measurements and put together a hydro boast wilwood m/c combo with proportioning valve. I know it's a 1" m/c but I cant comment on stopping performance yet. I have stock disks up front and Monte carlo disks in rear.

I let out the sisters for a little grazing in the pasture behind the barn. The STPCHLD is a 2yr old project.. Henry "Red", is a 14yr project. Both are within weeks of being completed.

Thanks for the pictures. I will need to fab something up for mine and am looking for ideas. I am doing a mini truck P.S, conversion. so the stock parts won't work.

The power steering gear is a bit longer than the manual one but the manual heat shield will work on it with minor modification of the mounting brackets.

Added tunes to Louie... Thanks for @Engineer8000 for the OEM radio. Highly recommend this MUD member if you need work done or want to buy a radio. Easy to work with and true to his world.

While the OEM radio looks great I also wanted something that would Bluetooth. I didn't want to cut or modify the Fj40. So I took a vintage Coleman Cooler and installed a radio in it. There is a SAE connector that allows me to quickly disconnect and remove the radio.
Best part is was a project that I did with my son before he leaves for school.

Purchased some tires on Tuesday for the 40 series.
They are Kuhmo 30x9.5x15. Going to try these out and see how they feel.
