Depends on the door - early doors I think you'll need to fab up, I haven't seen an aftermarket skin for them. On the later doors, a couple of different cruiser parts houses carry them. CCOT and Real Steel Cruiser Parts that I know of (probably others). I'll likely be going Real Steel as I've heard good things about their fitment. I'll probably be ordering soon because their business is for sale, which makes me nervous!

The FD knob locks wrong... is is right or no?

If you're doing a restore, its a must have.

The box from Overland Metric for my '64 FST arrived last week. Nothing to do with it until the body comes back from paint, several weeks away at best.

FD knob looks right to me, Angelo. Here's a pic from mine before disassembly, and another pic from when the rig @OR tojo bought recently was auctioned on BaT. (saved all the pics as reference.)

Opinions needed on the fuse box...

I hate its stock location.. I want to tuck it up higher on the firewall. out of sight..

On my '64, I mounted that same 6-fuse box in the factory location, but I mounted it upside down so that the fused terminals are on the passenger side as the stock 5-fuse box had. It fit up to the factory wiring harness much better that way. I later removed all the (upside-down) lettering on the cover and relabeled with black-on-clear Dymo tape.

Powder coat success! Prismatic 'Vegas Gold' FTW!

In some light, there is a touch more gold undertone than stock. But if you don't have the powdered parts right next to the bumper, you'll never notice.

Turn signal is factory new finish, ash tray in powder.

Bumper is factory new.

Besides the ash tray and glove box door, had seat frame parts, grab handle and gauge cluster cover done. Way pleased!

I don't have a spare, but I'm going to bet that was a not-uncommon change back in the day so that people could use low range in 2WD.

After letting my ‘74 FJ40 sit for 13 years, I got it running and test drove it last week. Originally parked it for a bad rear pinion bearing. Should have my rear end kicked for letting it sit for so long.

Got the trans and transfer back into the 45. During the rebuild, I noted that the speedo housing did not have the dual seal mod, so that makes me lean towards it being last serviced in my pre-internet days, 2001, with the engine.

Went to reorder some of the stuff I used on the project only to find that the clutch fork and hub have both gone obsolete in the meantime! Wow.

Time to start putting the interior back together.

Got the parts mostly cleaned up between jobs at work. The big media blaster was not functioning properly so I had to resort to the small sand blaster like some sort of neanderthal... how do they expect me to do quality car restorations on company time under these conditions?!

I have a similar problem at my job. My plasma cutting fab skills need more training in order to up my personal mods. Or maybe the plant needs a water jet....

Ship Ahoy

Today I loaded my 1984 FJ40 into a container by the Arabian Gulf for shippment to Canada. Been working towards this for almost 5 years. Body off down to the last nut and bolt!
It has a new no number 2F short block that I got over the counter here. A/C and P/S.
In the back is two 50cc Z50 Honda Monkeys and it's packed with the leftovers of 2 cruiser restorations.
The trip will take 4 to 5 weeks and I'll meet it on the other end.
It will join its sister - a 1983 Dune Beige FJ40 in Canada that I sent 3 years ago. In case you are wondering, it cost around $3000 port to port (Toronto) with insurance and fees.
This makes at least 4 cruisers shipped outta here - all late models in recent years.

That's a nice match. My local powder coater used a mix he said he used on restoredfj40.com s rigs.
Its way more grey than I expected, but does look pretty good.
