View attachment 1718517 Working on brake lights and blower. I would like to formally than my PO for the veritable hornet’s nest in the blower vent system. What’s up with that??!!!

Mine came from Alabama and had a ton of those things on it. Under the dash, frame, heater.

We call them Dirt Daubers...they aren't hornets. More like a Wasp, but they dont sting.

Friday I replaced the clutch master cylinder, gravity bleed the system and took it out for a drive. Saturday and Sunday I worked on the doors. Removed all the old weather stripping, cleaned up the doors as best as I could. Very happy with the results, clean, and not too rusted. I’ll have to order some window wiper felts this week and then I will replace all the door weather stripping and window felts. I used both goof off and 3m adhesive remover. Both worked, but I would recommend the 3m remover. Along with a rag, wire brush(aluminum?), and a plastic scraper.

Looks good. Where is your bezel?

Nekkid Cruiser. Anything goes in the Bay :p Zoom in on the attached ... broke all kinds of bolts (and bolt extractor) while attempting the flip and need a cooling off period.

@Tehmbrick do you have any exposed thread on the backside? If so, perhaps drop your bib forward, weld nuts from the backside and extract them out the back.

If you are avoiding using a big torch to preheat bolts so as to preserve paint, a small butane torch is a good option. Pre-heating bolts helps a bunch. I’ve worked screws back and forth 20+ times just to avoid breakage. I think it was @Weber Sarge who advised to actually tighten a stubborn bolt a bit before removing. Works pretty good.

Still have not done a lot to my own FJ45 but got all motivated when I found this immaculate 1979 FJ45 at our local sports park when I took my son to hockey on the weekend. Looked like it had just come off the showroom floor! Was planning to paint my 45 in Sky Blue, but after seeing how great this one looks in Red......going to have a tough decision to make! Hopefully will see it again and track down it's owner. Taha32 do you know who who owns this one?

Thanks @thebigredrocker ... that is exactly what has scared me off of heating (paint damage) - good idea on the small butane approach. At this point, I think dropping the bib is the only way forward (not enough exposed on the front to weld to).

Picked up a 1972 a few weeks back that I could not let a small town shop “restore”. The lack of rust to me meant it should stay a patina ride till panels need replaced. So my build is stalled while I get this one up and running and find it a new home.

Last two weekends: Replaced master cylinder, flushed fuel lines, flushed coolant out of the block, all new hoses, flushed rad, new motor mounts, sanded a bunch, and buffed some paint to see what it looks like. Also put the barn doors, rear hatch, and dug into fixing some wiring.

Only 90% sure, but I believe your shocks are installed upside down. Normally the labels are right side up... and all the Bilstein shocks I have have the shock body on the top and the shaft to the bottom.
Yes, I flipped them around to be correct a few weeks ago. In too big of a hurry and also they were right side up when I was lying on my back under the vehicle.

I thought I’d read you had... but couldn’t spot your post.

Follow up thoughts? I’m considering getting them one day, and would love to get some real world data would be appreciated. How is the ride?

Been running Rancho 5000 since they were the greatest thing since sliced bread.

I run them in clapped out flat springs and I’m very impressed with them.
