Sometimes when I have time to kill, I go into the garage and see what I can clean up. I've found that orange citrus paint stripper eats the cheap-s##t paint the first owner painted all over the interior, but won't eat the good paint if any is left underneath. First was the glovebox door, today the transfer case shifter.

This - CitriStrip

It removes lots of different paint types, but won't touch decent automotive paint. Can't use it to strip the outside of the tub. Doesn't even soften the original pewter or bandaid paints. But isn't much use on the paint on the outside, not even the Maaco/Schieb quality stuff.

Perfect! I’ve got what appears To be some cheap ass paint.

Since I can shift into gear at the moment (waiting for a new clutch master cylinder) I thought I would play around with my Dremel tool that I havent used much since getting it a couple years ago. Decided to use the circular cut out jig and fab up some cup holders. Other than the sheet metal being a bit flimsy, it will need a brace or two, I think it will work.

Finally put the lift on Olive. Still minor things to do but mostly done. It's a bit higher than I want but I'll give the springs a chance to settle. I am working (slowly) on a hub cap adapter/mod to put oem caps on my wheel vintiques 16" wheels. Prototype jobs on there now but hopefully this week real ones happen. Running 285/75-16 KM1 tires I had around. Need to find a KM1 spare.

Also, I put on my new City Racer LED headlights, very nice mod.

Note airborne Lab jumping off the dock in the first pic. Totall coincidence. He throws the stick out for himself when he gets bored.

What springs did you go with?

Pro Comp 2.5". Someone here on mud said that pro comp bought their springs from a manufacturer in India and the quality was very good. Wish I could remember who that was. I went with those and Bilstein shocks. Don't know how the ride is yet.

How do you like the LED headlights? They seem too good to be true...

Spiffed up this piece of art!

Thanks!...
was inspired by someone's post on MUD. Didn't realize that the locking dial was bronze! Cleaned up years of grime with a wire brush on a drill, then applied black and red enamel over the lettering/marks. Once that dried, sanded the excess paint off the dial... and done.

Looks great... for those with OCD, I won’t tell you what ‘Autosol’ and a cotton buff in a Dremel will do... oops too late.

Well... now my afternoon tomorrow is planned ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I only had them on once in the dark when I pulled into the garage, no drive down the road, so I can't say just yet. I went for them based on what others here have said about them, and City Racer's reputation of nice stuff. I am not crazy about the 6000K color temperature (kinda getting close to the POS rusty chevy pickup "Hey dig me and my stupid blue headlights!" blue), but I think it will be fine.

Had a stroke of accidental genius tonight while chiseling away the remnants of the asphalt sound/heat insulation on my transmission hump.

If anyone has ever messed with this, you know it takes quite a bit of cheseling, heat, grinding, etc.

I made it here with a scraper blade on an oscillating tool:

From here - dealing with the “quilting” pattern is a pain - a grinder just smears it, and the limited material makes a scraper blade tough.

Enter: “Bug and Tar remover” - after all, asphalt is tar-based, sort of, right?

So I hosed it down and let it sit for 10min:

Job done!

There are a couple thick spots that will need some more work, but sure beats getting covered in melted black gunk slung by my wire wheel.
