Back to the HJ45.
Removed old tattered weatherstripping and adhesive. About 2 1/2 hours for both doors.

Hey sandcruiser, weatherstrip project looks great (as does the 45). What product did you use to get the old weatherstrip adhesive off?

About an hour per door. Did not remove doors. These oversized clips work great to trial fit and hold weatherstrip as you move along.

3M 03618 Adhesive Remover - 12 oz. 4 stars on Amazon. Soft cloth and A Lot of elbow grease ad lots of resprays. Its very volatile. Spray it on directly or on cloth and it SLOWLY removes the adhesive by layers and then finally wipes off. I used a wooden spatula for thick parts in some areas first although the liquid is what works.

That is the only stuff I've ever found that will cut weatherstrip adhesive. Works well on other nasty glues as well.

+2 It was the only thing that seemed to work. Still a lot of work.

Put the head on. Adjusted valves and timing. Very impressed with the power. Now need to adjust carb.

Got my suspension in today from CCOT thanks to all the members that helped me make that decision a few weeks ago

It had some kind of golden elephant jizz all over them that was kinda tough to get off ended up using a wire wheel and got them primed

Set my 40 on it's side and had a caliper bolt come loose and snapped and ear off the caliper and jammed it into the wheel.

I drove Sampson to the CRR with a few of my mud brothers. It was almost 1100 miles round trip. That got me the “Iron Butt” award.

Yeah, could have been worse... I just dented the driver fender. The 37" spare kept the rear from hitting the ground. Props go to @lcwizard and his 4+ rear bumper and tire carrier. It is burly and saved me from more damage. I was planning on installing tube fenders anyway.

That tire carrier is very much on my list!

I guess that’s one way to make “lemonade” out of the situation - still sucks.

It's off to the body shop to have the minor damage from the Carolina Relic Run fixed on my 40. Then to have the bump stops altered to prevent this from happening again, I hope.
