Pulled the 4 sets of leaf springs apart, they were in quite a mess. Used a twisted knot brush on my angle grinder which worked really well,

spent about an hour each spring sets cleaning off the gunge. Have painted one set with CRC Black Galv then I will grease each leaf and re-assemble, then top coat with black chassis paint. Hopefully I will now get some movement in the springs when I hit a bump

Let us know how those springs work when you get them back on your truck.
I could definately use more movement in my BJ40.s springs!

Mechanical restoration continues on the 71.
New clutch master, brake master, and brake booster (courtesy of racer65). Old clutch master had a very slight leak and the old brake booster was hissing pretty bad.

Pulled the headlight surround, stripped it and powder coated it with Easton's app white (what I had available). A little brighter than factory but it turned out pretty solid.

It's a beautiful day today at PNW, so I attached my trusty trailer to the 40 and went lumber shopping! I smiled the entire trip!:bounce2::bounce:All the cruiser sounds were music to my ears!

Alright totally off topic but sence your from the Pacific Northwest what's your take on Bigfoot ? I know ,crazy question but I thought it might be fun to ask. If you don't want to comment that cool to.

Yeah we have one his name is Bucky, because of his buck teeth, good old chap, but the bears do not tolerate his shenanigans.

But here's a story you might enjoy reading. Pacific Northwest May Finally Have Evidence Bigfoot Exists - Redorbit

Here's a pic of Bucky:

Gave the 40 a bath after replacing the front brake pads and installing a new electric three way valve for the rear con- ferr tank.

The work was a little bittersweet because I am selling the cruiser to a buddy and I'm gonna miss it. I've had the 40 For the past 14 years and it is an awesome truck. When my HJ47 troopy gets here from Austrailia, hopefully it will fill the gap.

What is the story with the '45 in the background? Do you have a build thread? What year is it? Looks beautiful, need more pictures

My 45 in the background is the truck from Whitey45's "20 years later" thread. I don't have a build thread of my own for it. It's pretty much a stock '66 with the exception of 33" BFG ATs. It has original F135 and three speed that still purrs great. It's a fun truck.

I started mine. Blew a head gasket a year and half ago and after I pulled the engine for a rebuild, one thing led to another and another and so on. The fenders and bib go back on this weekend. I pulled everything of the firewall and got a pretty decent paint job on it. My first painting attempt, having a little trouble painting the fenders Cleaned and painted the frame as best as I could as far back as the rear springs as well as cleaning the front end and painting it. Fixed a lot of the PO shortcuts and it's a changed vehicle. Can't wait to back it out of the garage and take it for a drive.

You need to post pics to validate your resto job, sorry, but without pics it never happened.:hillbilly:
