I had couple of minutes to troubleshoot the wiring and found the culprit that was causing a short and promptly fixed it and installed the console for the last time. Here's a pic energized and illuminated console.

Rig looking super Roger!

Since I can't go far afield right right now, Chester and I visited the Desert National Wildlife Refuge, driving Morman Well Road and a few offshoot roads again. The roads were in very poor condition... they've obviously had some pretty good flooding, since I was last up there around Christmas. The 10 mile Pine Nut Road round trip took just under 3 hours... there was one especially bad washout, with no tracks on the other side. We went on up to the end because I wanted to hike the mountain and ridge sans snow... but, it wasn't worth the effort... that mountain is covered in cactus, flaked shale and a lot of deadfall... even though it was about 50 degress, it was a sunny day and we were hiking the south face... by the time we were 300' up and 1/2 mile up (to 6556'), I became too concerned about waking a sunning snake, so we went back down and moved on back to Morman Well Road.

We worked our way through Peek-a-boo Canyon and up to the Desert Pass Campground (6600')... its a decent campground (with no one there), but it's obviously used a lot... I didn't want to stay there and Chester agreed. So, we drove on and stopped at the old Morman Camp area and pulled up into a high spot in the trees. The sky was clear, with no rain in the forecast, so I wasn't real concerned with camping in an area with "flash flood area" signs... but, I made sure we were not camped in an obvious drainage and were as high as I could get.

I made Tortilla Soup and I gave Chester a couple of tbsps of the canned chicken, to flavor his food. It was getting cold out, so the soup was especially great!! We also shared some popcorn and sacked out, in 44, around 7pm. I listened to a great audiobook and woke to hear rain on the roof. I debated moving back up to the campground, but only momentarily, before going back to sleep.

When I woke in the morning, it was 27 degrees and the ground was practically dry... it had been a while since it rained and apparently the rain wasn't as bad as it sounded at 2 am.

We geared up and hiked up the mountain behind our camp and took a few pictures of the awesome view, across the valley... Hayford Peak (~9700') was directly across from us. My pictures don't do justice to the actual view...

I scrambled some eggs and cooked some bacon and it was so delicious, I did it again... Chester really likes his bacon and eggs!!

Then we climbed back into 44 and continued driving, exploring and taking pictures... a great trip!!

Drove it around a little yesterday, compiling another list of stuff to order from @beno. Just ordered a bunch of stuff the other day. Still haven't found what's draining the battery. Tried out the transfer, hubs and the rest of the drive train. Will start tearing it all apart today from the wheels up, then shoot Georg a list of those parts. Georg @orangefj45 came threw for me when I needed it, super guy.

I posted some info and pictures about this week's trip, in post# 10642, above.

But, while flowers and geological strata are not everyone's cup of tea, I love both and am continually amazed at just how violently the hills and mountains of the Great Basin were formed.

Some strata is simply horizontal, some are vertical, some are inclined or diagonal and some are complete jumbles... it's almost as though the mountains were left standing when the valleys dropped and then some catastrophic force knocked the mountains over, in very possible direction... I think I need to read up on this.

Anyway, for those who share my interest...

@pngunme , what are the specs on your camera?

Hey Carlo,

Its "Danny" and I'm not a photographer... I was using my iphone and my kids bought me a Canon Powershot SX50 and I added a UV filter... http://www.opticsplanet.com/canon-powershot-sx50-hs-compact-digital-camera. - all the specs are listed in this link. Its also available via Amazon (same price), but I love OpticsPlanet's customer service.

My son-in-law uses this camera for his bird shots and takes advantage of more of the capabilities of the camera... I simply set it on auto and point, zoom (in/out), partially depress the button to focus, then shoot.

You can tell from many of my pics that photography is not my forte'.

Nice media......the harshness dry brown rocks and the upheaval they endured to the colorful delicate flowers.. AMAZING!!

It really is... I'm very fortunate to have this playground so close!!

I can enter the Desert National Wildlife Refuge (DNWR), via US 95, in about 30 minutes and drive the 47 miles of Morman Well Road (at an average of about 15 mph) to US 93 and drive home from there in about 1.5 hrs. So, unless I really want to spend the night, it's a very convenient (long) day trip.

The other alternative is Alamo Road and it runs 44 miles to a road closure at an impassable dry lake... so, it turns into 88 miles of crawling round trip. Its a a good (very long) drive (especially if you drive any of the offshoot trails), but doesn't reach the ~7k in altitude that Morman Well Road reaches.

There are numerous hiking opportunities available... some mapped and others, you are on your own... I like to hike off trail.

I've done nothing to mine this week, but I'm at the beach. However, I did park next to this green Texas FJ40 while having lunch off 30A at Seaside, FL.....made me think of mine back home.

Corrected castor issues...pulled my drive shaft and parking brake assembly cleaned up drum and backing plate and will repaint and reinstall.

Great pics Danny I think he may have meant they are slightly overexposed. Can you set the camera F-STOP TO f16, works excellent for sunny days. I really like the area you were wheeling in, reminds me of our Bradshaw Mtns here in Arizona.....

I messed around with the rear hinges the other day on the red 75 40. Its got a pretty bad gap, I'm hoping to maybe slot the holes just a tad. It looks like it going to be a booger, boy I hate body work.
