What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week? (31 Viewers)

Pulled the front seats so I could remove the transmission hump so I could more easily remove the trans/TC so I could replace the rear main engine seal. Also need to need to replace the seal on the rear output shaft of the TC. Might as well rebuild the parking brake, replace some leaking transmission gaskets, install a trans/TC oil return line, as well as strip and paint the front pan with chassis saver. But wait, that gas tank is in the way! Good thing I FILLED IT UP before parking for the winter. Oh, and since the seats are out I'll strip, prime and paint all the seat hardware as well. And to think, I was wondering what I would do while I waited for back ordered front rotors to complete the front knuckle and steering linkage rebuild I did two or three weeks ago. Please kill me...

BTW, I can't thank everyone on Mud enough for all the valuable (as well as inspiring and entertaining) information you provide to a first time Land Cruiser owner like myself!

Slippery slope indeed. I pulled the seats to remove some bedliner on the floor and before I knew it...

This is the problem with project cars, you can start one thing and it leads to another, and another, and another, and then... ;)

@76 FJ40. That soon. I was hoping we would sort of parallel which would have been fun. I will probably only get to it in November or there abouts. Seems I'll be learning from your mistakes.

Dagha,
I've been waiting for almost 2 years to make the conversion. Hopefully I will have plenty of lessons without the mistakes for you to enjoy.

And I am getting ready to put hardtop back on....................love the look of that though!!

I got around to doing some work on my cruiser today. I painted the new to me taillight protectors and installed them with brand new bolts. I bought these from Tom @tls3601 Thanks Tom!

Project sill, corners, floor replacement entered final stretch. The Wesco matched single stage paint with hardener looks good so far...just a bit expensive and I am blowing through the cans :-(

Did I mention body work is hella work?

Two key updates ahead of my 5-week Trip coming up in June...

New BMW 3 series manual seats and a Metal Tech Bumper!

First the seats. An awesome set of BMW (2012 330xi I think?) manual seats... and I'll tell you, they are a game changer for me. The ride is waaay more comfortable... frankly, the difference between the stock seats and these seats is just spectacular... I wasn't expecting it. I guess they just absorb a lot of the rough in the road on their own. The fact that they just about fully recline (in addition to going up/down and tilting as well), which is the main reason why I wanted them in the first place, has almost turned out to be icing in the cake for me. :grinpimp:

Seats in upright position:

And reclined:

The Metal Tech rear bumper is more of a extra gas storage deal at this point. It looks solid... the quality of the construction is top notch.
