I installed some "uneducated car people" prevention this past weekend -

This matches the "People Person" bumper-sticker nicely. ;)

Yeah - that was unintentional but works out well I guess , maybe that's what the guy in the hardware store parking lot was amused about . I've had fun being at a distance when it's parked - watching people walk by , stop , trying to figure it out and such . Worst is when the shepherd is aboard - he's gotten a nasty habit of laying down in the seat , waiting to spring those bright white fangs at some unsuspecting soul if they try to look inside the windows ...he's enjoying it , too .

Sarge-
What kind of gasket is that on your rear hatch? I have never seen one like that.
Thanks,
Will

I thought about taking the easy way out with cab off my 45 but liked the extra room and think it looks better with more meat on top. So I finished welding sides and fiberglassed top together. Now I'm trying to tie into tub half way decent . Roll cage fits better with half cab deal too.

Gasket is a temporary fix - garage door seal and a lot of rubber cement . Actually works pretty well . I hate having this hard top on it and that blanking plate but the rear sill is gone and po welded a chunk of angle iron across the rear - can't install my ambulance doors . I have a perfect set of those doors , '76 top that I'd like to put the sliding windows into - when I can address the rear section of the tub . It's really starting to lose the center support beam and rockers now , need to do something soon .

The easy way out is to put another sticker "Who will repair my rear sill?Any other questions?"

I POR 15'd the wheel wells and outside frame rails on my FJ40. This stuff is AWESOME! I read on the label about taking precautions by wearing gloves while applying, but did not heed (yeah, I'm an IDIOT). Went to Disney Land a few days later with the family and had black POR 15 all over my hands and up to my elbows (don't ask). All I could think of was "You might be a redneck if...". Two weeks later I still have small remnants of black paint on my skin here and there (yes, I shower daily). Sorry, no before pictures.

My truck had a 6 inch lift, which I did not like, and so I made some standard height shackles, to see if I liked the ride. It was Ok so when I got round to it I bought some 85mm center greasable shackles and pins. Have attached how I went about changing them.
1. Undo all nuts while vehicle in on the ground.
2. Jack and support rear end on axle stands
3. Undo nuts and use a floor jack from underneath or sissor jack at top to there is no tension on shackle side plate.
4. Use a mallet to drive out shackle pins, then a punch. (Mine where still pretty loose).
5. Remove old shackle.
6. Pic of new shackle with factory with 85mm pin centres
7. Grease pins, and place anti-seize on threads.
8. Tap into place with mallet.
9. Loosely fitted in place.
10. move to other end of spring, Undo 12mm AF nut.
11. Use scissor jack at top or floor jack at bottom to remove tension from pin.
12. If pin turns when removing nut place punch in hole to stop it turning when using wrench.
13. Remove nut and tap out pin.
14. Use jacks to align hole.
15. Grease pin.
16. Tap into position and loosely secure with spring washer and nut.
17. Repeat for front.
18. Remove axle stands and jacks, tighten all nuts, fit grease nipples and greas, all done.
