I used the mounting plate that they sell which holds two mounts. Here is a pic of them mounted, I will remove the cans and take a picture of how the plate is mounted to the rack cross bars.

Thanks. That's the way I did it, I just can't stop it from vibrating when packs aren't full.

Hmm mine don't seem to vibrate, they are empty now. I have to look at it closer tomorrow.

Where is your rattle coming from, the cans themselves or the plate to rack mounting? How many cranks on the lever did you give it from the point where the holes in the bottom of the lever start hitting the nubs on the cans? I have mine about 5 half turns on both the bottom fuel can and the top layer dual water cans.

HTH.

Take them off when not in use...

If you use them while wheeling then they rattle the whole return trip, I could see how that would be annoying. Mine are noise free though.

I played with it some last night and think I fixed it. Ran some of the FrontRunner rubber gasket underneath the mounting plate and then bolted back down. It's been quiet so far.

I think you guys are on the right track here.
For my 2001 LC - the remote module and the security transponder chip were wll one unit, and they're oriented the same way in the flipper as they are in the original key.

singha, I have the flip key with the buttons rotated 90*. Works just fine on my '98 and the imobilizer chip is right near the key part so it's really close to the receiver behind the dash, just like a stock key. Are you sure you're mounting it in the right place? I posted links in another thread that links to the Amazon page where I bought it. Another owner uploaded pics of just how to mount the chip.

What kind of rack do you have? Here is a few pictures of my rack and mounting setup.

Let's see, greased all points I could find, cranked torsion bars to get to a 1" rake - was over 2" - removed running boards and took her on her first decent trail run up Old Ward Canyon road above Bountiful. I am very impressed with this vehicle in the stock configuration.

Poser pic after the trail run.

Wait, does your '98 have a separate immobilizer chip, the little bean-shaped one, or all in the three-button piece?

It had a small chip inside the three button piece. I had to open up the case on the remote, then remove the chip, insert the chip into the new flip key in the special slot at the top by the key end, and then finally put the three button part back together and then into the new (sideways) location in the flip key. Then, you get to do the terrible spring preloading and case assembly.

Finally got my dual battery install done in LX 470!

What did you do for a bracket? How do you like the blue sea combiner?

Over the holiday weekend I mounted up an 03+ ARB combo bar with winch and Jonseys recovery brackets. :bounce: Pictures/proof will be in my build thread this week. :flipoff2:

I used a 2nd battery tray from slee that I cut down and modified. The L bracket for the electric solenoid was fabricated from sheet metal. The override / off switch I mounted in a small recess in the glove box.

I did my brakes pads and topped off fluid after a good bleed, flushed coolant, and rotated tires yesterday.

Does any one else's 285/75/16 in the stock location rub slightly on the pan hard bar? It's not bad at all but there is a rub mark on the bar and it's reminding me how bad I wish I could buy a rear bumper...

you lost me at "open up the case on the remote"... you mean break apart the 3-button case that holds the battery and appears be glued together? I'm assuming the chip is in the corner indicated by the arrow in the pic with the battery removed. Did the case come apart cleanly, or does this cause irreversible damage the fob?

I've not actually done anything to the 100 this week, but I have set my CC on fire taking advantage of a bunch of black friday deals!

Front bumper, air compressor, the various components for a dual battery install, etc, etc.

Fun times ahead.
