Slowly building up my 2002 Hundy before a trip in October to take the fam camping in CO/NM, today she got a hidden winch.

did you do frame ground or just body? I did both b/c I had extra wire but would do Frame if I only had one choice.
Problem with frame ground is that a lot of the body wiring is body grounded. There are circuits grounded to the body all over. I'm not aware of any ground straps bonding the body to the frame, and they are more or less insulated from each other at the body mounts. Would love to hear if there is better information regarding this though.

The frame is most definitely a good ground. The frame and body both are grounded and part of the same system. They both go back to the battery.

Ordered a new key fob from Amazon over 2 weeks ago... the key literally shipped from the town over from us and got lost in the mail for a few days... so I ordered a new one but had to wait a week for it for some reason since it wasn't "prime" shipping anymore. Anyways, it finally got here and i'll be taking it to the locksmith to have it cut tomorrow and programmed via DIY.

I am beyond stoked to have the ability to unlock/lock my doors with a FOB again. (hopefully) LOL.

Also, if all goes well I will be ordering an ARB deluxe bumper this week unless Ironman 4x4 can get me a sweet deal on one of theirs. (they are local to me also)

Wired up a viair 350c to owl expedition compressor mount. The mount is top notch. Had to drill 2 holes in the compressors mounting bracket to get it to fit the spacing. I'd like to get the switch mounted cleaner but this should do for now.

So I take the muscle car approach knowing that those do a ton of grounds vs relying on old ass frame to body ground straps. My big 3 was for my big stereo so I wasn’t interested in chancing a body

Did the first real work on my new to me rig. List included:
  • Replaced Heater Tees, 6x hoses and 12x clamps with OEM. Found a bonus piece sitting in one of the firewall pipes which must have been from a previous tee replacement. Found an interesting way to work in the engine bay
  • Replaced radiator hoses. Found the thermostat housing and bypass nipples pretty corroded. Used some high tack gasket sealant with the new gates hoses and so far it’s holding. Fingers crossed it lasts.
  • Flushed coolant loop 4x times.
  • Replaced intake air filter.
  • Repaired a few inside trim pieces that were missing screws or just not installed correctly.
  • Was going to replace the PCV and gasket, but found it’s tubing and the vacuum tubing fully cracked so I decided to hold on that until I get hoses on hand. (Pics below)
  • Took an inventory of power steering leak and steering rack that needs replacement so I can get parts ordered. Any tips on part numbers or tools that make the job easier would be appreciated. Looking to go OEM new and I will install.

That air output hose gets really hot. And the PS reservoir is not cheap either.

Ah, the engine bay plank. Very familiar but difficult for us more rotund guys.

saw a thread on here where a person relocated their power steering reservoir to in front of the air intake box. might be something to look into.

Yes I was a bit concerned about that. It is barely touching as is, and if I secure the hose towards the exterior it will not touch. Maybe I should look at some heat wrap for the ps reservoir. I also have some wiggle room back towards the ahc reservoir which would provide more clearance at the ps res. Good eye!

Good call:

Did the Big Three. And added a slee terminal + extension. Negative terminal will have to wait until I get a crimper.

Sheard a bolt at engine block in front of fire wall, is where I bolted ok?
Also had to shave the bolt at the + terminal to get it to seat correctly.
The fuse link box is a little canted do you think that's a problem?

Got cables from @TheForger great quality.

OK, after seeing many responses to this post, I'll go ahead and ask the dumb question (yes, i searched for every keyword I could think of--are those additional ground cables from battery to engine and from engine to body? Is the factory grounding system insufficient?

There is one neg. terminal to body. the other two are body to engine.
Not an expert but I think with factory electronics there is no need to upgrade these ground wires.

Yeah that’s sufficient If you’re not going to add a bunch of electronics

Successfully programmed my new car key and I am beyond excited to not open my car door like a peasant.

Also, will need to replace the door lock motor now LOL..

Cleaned it up after a week of camping in Colorado. Not bad for 342,000 miles
