Just wondering if it's standard practice or recommended to clean & paint mildly rusty areas while doing mods... I'm currently installing OME/SPC/Slee suspension and discovered a few areas that are a bit grimy with some mild rust...

The rear of the truck looks pretty good but when I started tackling the front I found a few areas... I didn't get a lot of pics but I can get more.

Thanks for any input

Installed one of BenCC usb housings in the back of the arm rest and put the platform in. Doing some wishful thinking that camping season is here.

It looks great. Did you make the platform?

Thanks. I did. It’s pretty basic but it works great for my needs. Weighs maybe 25 pounds and I can install or remove it in 10 minutes. Some plastic bins fit nicely underneath to make it a poor mans drawer system. I still use the 3rd row seats occasionally so it’s nice that I can swap stuff around easily.

Long time lurker been meaning to introduce my "new" rig. Put some tires on a few weeks ago. It's a 2000 with 100k, a dealer trade for a new LX570 that must have been kept in the garage its whole life. Got super lucky finding it. Currently running everything stock, this was taken with the AHC on H. Will probably do a suspension swap and add sliders at some point.

This thing is perfect as is, love it.

Took this past Sunday to do a full detail (the first extensive one this season), more social distancing but at least I enjoyed myself.

Used the foam cannon and turned the cruiser white. Did a mild buff and polish with a full coat of sealant, detailed the engine compartment, and did a quick interior clean.

Thursday I'll get Nitto Ridge Grapplers installed.

Nice!
What floor mats are those?

On the bottom are Hexomats, and the liners are the original 22 year old Huskies my father bought when he first bought the truck!

did a DIY alignment after the ironman lift. adjusted caster camber and toe. typical alignment shops don't even bother with camber or caster but still charge you as much as 100 bucks just to set the toe. it took me a hot minute to do all the adjustments as it's my first time but i got a little more caster out of her and she is driving great. it really wasnt too far off with only a 2" lift but it definately is an improvement.

What did you use for materials? I have 4 feet, and was planning to use 3/4 birch. I see you used 6 feet, do you think that was necessary?

12 - 1" floor plates
6 - 1" black iron pipe at 12" long
2 - 1/2" birch plywood - one at 52x41 (main platform) and one at 52x32 (extension for sleeping)
4 - turnbuckles
4 - carabiners

4 feet would probably work with 3/4" plywood. I went with 1/2" to save weight so I went with 6 feet to be safe.

The one common theme — consistently on all of the threads — is buy/replace with OEM parts — never cheap Chinese parts. I'm the third owner of a 98 LC100 and over the past few months I have slowly and methodically replaced every non OEM part that I can locate. The latest was the fuel filter (see photo), which was quite obviously not OEM. Rusty gas pouring out of the filter is never a good sign and a great indication that the filter is crap!
...
Since purchasing this vehicle back in November it's been plagued by the occasional poor throttle response, rough idling, and loss of power under a load or going up steep inclines and all the expected codes. I have systematically read through every forum post for clues—learning all the while. I have now cleaned the throttle body, replaced the throttle Position Sensor (TPS), the Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF), and finally the fuel filter. Go figure, every part I replaced was non OEM! When I did the timing belt back in January it was also non OEM. At one point one of the previous owners saved a few dollars by going with non OEM parts. Though it pisses me off, i'm kind of glad because now I know that the entire rig is all OEM (except for the OME suspension and ARB bumpers) and I now know this rig inside and out.
...
I'm happy to report that the rig is happy and now runs like a scolded dog!

It's good to have friends in high places. Was able to pick up a large stash of Pinthouse Pizza Electric Jellyfish Hazy IPA...YUMMM. Should be enough to get me through the whole "shelter-in-place" stuff. My trusty, but not rusty 98 LX to bring home all this beer :)

Ever try the Lake Austin Ales Juicy Double IPA—it's pretty darn tasty?
