I had zero success in doing the same procedure in my wife’s MDX while parked in garage and cussing.

You bet! What would you like to know? My friend was the brains behind the operation. The plan was to cut into the plastic on the rear bumper but to keep it cleaner, he found that he could build two mounts, one on each side, of my existing trailer hitch. We came up perfectly flush with the bumper to take into consideration the back curve of the rear of the body of the Cruiser. It worked out perfectly smooth and allowed for the tire, ladder, fuel/water cans, and my hi-lift. He did all of the metal cutting and welding himself.
@savirc .... How was Big Bend overall? I'm headed out there the 15th-18th of this month. Was it super muddy? Never been in the Fall and concerned it might be too wet. In February we camped at Talley2 which is just West of the Mariscol mine off River Road East. We are planning on doing Old Ore Road this time and also go up to Terlingua Ranch and drive the Christmas Mountain trail.

Weight, aesthetic appeal, cool, creative, different than everything else... and just fun to build somethingWhat was the motivation? You've got the skill, why not just fab an entire bumper?
Can we get some details on this????
It bolts on to my existing trailer hitch. No welds required to the LC. That way if I ever get another 100, I could move it over. I’ll talk to him and see if he wants to do more and put together a kit. It’s a hobby for him.Looks very cool. I wonder if he would be interested in making a kit. Did he weld anything to the actual LC? How is it supported on the inside of the bumper? Feels sturdy enough with all of the weight?

It’s super sturdy. I weigh 220 and climbed up the ladder. It’s solid!
OEM. Drilled holes into it on each side and went from there. I’m sure it can be done with any kind@LCBlackBeauty would this only work on the OEM trailer hitch or anyone?
