It isn't too hard to figure out which wires you need to jump to get the window up short term if the switch simply won't work. Before I got my 4runner switch working reliably I just kept a jumper in the truck and had the relevant terminals memorized.

Yeah, trying to figure that out now to rule out the Driver's window motor. From what I can tell I'm jumping the correct terminals but it isn't moving so the motor may be bad. Ugh.

Oh, and the correct page of the EWD in the glove box

Yeah.. just to make sure it isn't a relay/power source issue try doing the same on another window.

It has been a while but now I'm wondering if I actually had to jump 2 sets of wires.. IIRC the motor is dumb and the switch has to tell the motor which direction to go by giving + and - to the relevant poles for up, and switching both sides for down.

Finally got my 97 running did the head gasket.took so long about 3 months.waiting on parts to satisfy my while I'm in there disease.running good but broke the wire to the oil sending unit got to fix that.

Ok. That makes sense. I think I need to jump 6 to 7 or 8 AND 1 or 2 to 13 to make it go up. According to this. Does that make sense?

I think you are on the right track. We can take this to your window thread if you want. Might help someone in the future.

Edit: IIRC I didn't use that diagram, I actually used the wiring diagram to figure out which wires were + and -, and ran to the window motor. That should help with the "1 or 2" ambiguity.

Driver's window switch finally gave up the ghost. Trying to clean it up and get it working. Any suggestions to clean up the switch?

If you take out the two springs it will turn off the "auto" light off letting you do the windows up/down without key mod without draining your battery.

I'm just worrying about getting the window to go up and down with the key on at this point... :)

Were you having problems with the 'noids or just being proactive?

having a problem. wasnt getting the 2-1 downshift when rolling to/from stop signs intermittently. first noticed a year ago pulling into moab and spoke with parts slinger then about it.. put it on the back burner and then was having trouble on my way into rubicon, just after the granite bowl, even with the lever down in L.. idk, seemed weird, and intermittent, could have been my loose center console (fridge) knocking the lever, but I was pretty frustrated and sure I had the lever all the way back.. then happened again after a layover day at buck, and simultaneously lost reverse.. blah blah, a qt of fluid helped a lot and i got through... called Georg and spoke about it, significant majority of issues, especially intermittent ones, are the solenoids, so out with the old and in with the new (i just did the 2 shifting solenoids). fluid exchange cant hurt either :)

Interesting. My '442 acts a little funny with downshifts once in a while.. I'll have to look into these.

Went camping in La Plata Canyon over the weekend with family and friends! Was trying to get a pic of my buddies jeep and my 80 but had one of the gals got pretty sick and had to leave. Had a good bit of trailing, got to try out the new rack/light bar. Hopefully have the build thread up soon. Pretty good weekend overall tho!

Rob, do you have a build thread somewhere?
No, never got round to it, I've just been posting stuff as I do it on this thread and a couple of others (diesel performance threads)

Took the family on a trip down to the central coast for a bit of R&R. A little time on the SUP and kayak. Saw some whales up close and grabbed a few photos (kayakers in the photo not my party)!

Drove down home to have dinner at my brother's with whoever in the family could show up, most of them fortunately. Blew the back seam loose on the OEM muffler finally on the return leg of the trip. I'd heard it let go earlier, then when we got on the Interstate my wife asked what the noise was that just started:crybaby::doh:

Inspection revealed the lower half of the end crimped/welded around the side let loose, I supect from internal corrosion. The system is in amazing shape , considering. Gonna try to have it welded, looks like a viable candidate. Not real happy with the affordable options and OEM, preferable as it is, is pricey here if R&R is required. Wish me luck.
