I read about that.

That sucks. Lesson to be learned, even when you think it's an easy run take extra care when solo. Those are hard calls to respond to.

We do a lot of solo trips. You never know when a little dirt road trip becomes a rescue/recovery.

97Cruiserjoe: What adapters(spacers) are those?
They are 1.5" spacers from amazon. Hopefully they hold up. They seem to good quality. $100 shipped

Rebuilt the PS rear hub.. original Koyo inner bearing, replacement timken outer. New seals, and proper preload. Whoever did the bearings on the 97 axle didn't set the preload correctly, and beyond allowing diff oil to wash all the grease out, it allowed the inner races to spin on the axle which slightly damaged the shoulders. Should still be fine..

Started to wonder what I had done when I couldn't get the axle shaft in again.. guess the locker collar can slip down if the diff isn't locked. Learned my lesson.

IPOR skid plate. What a piece of art.

Total lift was about 3" all around. Hoping it'll settle some.. I wanted to stay around 2".

Fortunately a couple weeks ago I crawled under the truck to see what would be involved with installing a lift. On my 94 the PS rear radius arm bolt is held captive in the bracket by the cats.. so I ordered a bolt and planned to cut the old one out.

I figured I could cut the old axle bushings out of the arms and hammer the new ones in.. no chance. Got ahold of a press and never thought I'd need hearing protection for a press.. but holy crap. When one of the bushings first decided to move (after nearly stalling out a 12-ton press) my ears were ringing for 30 mins.

These fox shocks are NICE. I ordered the "roost guards" for the rears to protect the shafts hanging down, but haven't received them yet.

I destroyed one of the brand new rear u-joints I bought. Lesson: use the correct tool. A hammer is not the correct tool for ujoint cap install.

Didn't have time for the SGI-5 or OME steering stabilizer. Leaving Tuesday for NM then CO.. not too concerned if either gets installed.. it drives great with the caster bushings and only a front driveshaft for the time being.

Now I need adjustable panhards. Yay.

Oh, and despite two shop fans blowing on me at all times, the mosquito bite count is at 32.

Only a front drive shaft and you're headed out on a road trip?

Went for a drive on a local track, alternator decided to die halfway, made it back to town with nothing working except the mechanical speedo and both batteries down to 6V! Had an escort the whole way incase it died, but still managed to snatch a Triton up 2 big hills after it busted it's front diff. Go the 80!

Just until the new joint shows up on Monday. I don't leave until Tuesday. I guess I wasn't clear about that at all. Point is, even with a front shaft only it drives great. Though I guess the front axle doing all the work would add more caster than normal while driving..

Rob, do you have a build thread somewhere?

@bloc please tell is more about the speedo corrector.. Do you have a link ?

I got a Dakota Digital SGI-5C speedometer interface. It gets installed between the VSS on the transfer case and the speedometer. (to get more specific the speedometer converts the signal that then goes to the cruise computer and ECM) With separate positive and negative, you basically tell it the factor to adjust the speedometer pulsed signal by, and it does everything else.

About $80 from summit/amazon/wherever. It seems DD has updated the model to the SGI-5E, so I can't link their 5C page.. but the 5C is pretty similar. http://www.dakotadigital.com/index....ct_id=126/category_id=-1/mode=prod/prd126.htm

Honestly, I searched on here and was surprised how few people have run one of these. I ran the DD SGI-8 tach interface for my diesel swap and it worked great, and I've read similar reviews on the 5C elsewhere.

Since there is so little about it on here, I'll try and grab a few pics of the install process.

Installed the tag lights for 4X4LABS bumper. Love when an easy job becomes a PITA. I bought LED tag bolts that secure the tag and shine down across the tag. The wires feed through the nut. The wires were so fine stranded that they kept breaking when soldered. After soldering 3 times and breaking I ended up crimping and then immediately taping to relieve stress on the wire. Finally held. Then the electrical tape I used is apparently old and wasn't wanting to stick. Then I ran out of zip ties. Had other projects to do but decided to call it.
