[QUOTE Stripped down the back end to prepare for the 4x4 labs bumper build...[/QUOTE]

I finished mine this weekend. It is sturdy!

It looks like you have less rust than I started with, it was pretty straight forward. Have fun.

Yeah, for 224K, it is entirely rust free :grinpimp:. Benefit of spending it's life in Texas and Nevada!:flipoff2:

I got mine stuck in mud for an hour and then spent another hour power washing the mud off once I got it out. Now I know why the name of the forum is called Ih8mud. Oh...my wife was not impressed with being stuck in the middle of the woods...weird.

- Put the new belts on, including new AC idler
- Put the new radiator hoses on
- Took off throttle body to get to the two throttle body coolant hoses
- Started cleaning throttle body
- Replaced every vacuum hose I could find.
- Replaced the fuel filter - not nearly as bad as I had expected - of couse it may leak like a sieve.
- Wrapped the wiring harness by the EGR valve with reflective heat tape and wrapped the EGR pipe with header wrap.
- Replace the two short heater hoses near the EGR valve - complete PITA!
- Replaced the throttle cable - complete PITA!

On hoses - I started this whole project because one of the heater hoses connected to the heater control valve was leaking. That hose was stiff and cracking, as were a few of the vacuum lines. But may others seemed like new, even though I know they were original (factory pinned hose clamps). And when I replaced the PHH a few years ago, it nearly fell apart in my hands! Not sure what makes some hoses last and others fail. After the huge PITA it was to get those DS firewall heater hoses, I'm not sure I want to touch the other side.

Installed OEM belts, including the AC: After finishing up the rebuild a couple months back I hadn't received the oem belts from the dealer in time so installed after markets and let me tell you they are extremely loud, I finally got around to changing them out to an oem set.

New O ring on the mph sender: There was some small seepage

New cap and rotor oem: Was going to change them out at time of the rebuild but received the parts late

New set of plug wires oem: Was going to change them out at time of the rebuild but received the parts late

Extended breather lines for the front and rear axles: SARD hoses

Changed front drive shaft U joints: Had a very bad vibration in the front end and after having the tires balanced checked I decided to check the U joints and found that they were beyond shot so changed them out and it fixed the prob.

Pressure washed the engine bay and under chassis: Just needed it

Installed 6.5" speakers in the front doors: After installing a new radio because the oem cd player was not working the old speakers just sounded old, now sounds good.

Installed a Smart Sense Halon fire extinguisher from SPA: Safety first

Started the mounting plate for the 4lbs air tank: Will be mounting a 4lbs air tank up behind the winch and frame so I plasma cut the mounting plate out of steal plate and will have it bent tomorrow at lunch. Hopefully next weekend I will find time to install the tank and compressor.

Installed LED bulbs in the running/brake lights: Had some LED lights that I had laying around so decided to throw them in the tail lights.

Saturday Six hours working on the truck

  • Replaced 80 amp Alternator with a Sequoia 150 amp and the Photoman bracket
  • Upgraded charging wire to battery to handle the additional amperage
  • Installed Coolstream modified A/C Dryer lines/setup to place the Dryer in front of the battery instead of hanging below the bumper.
  • Installed an Anderson Connector setup for my jumper cables. Mounted in one of the captive-nut holes left over from the OEM A/C Dryer. Hidden from danger, yet instantly accessible. Wired to a cut-off switch so only active when needed.
  • No broken bits or major injuries...just a few nicks, and F-bombs dropped due to the flies buzzing around this time of year.

Sunday Two hours on the bike, and three hours working in the yard

  • Wheeled the truck up to the upper property filled with a few implements of destruction so I could clear 800 feet of property line of brush. One nice blister as a reminder of this "fun" afternoon.

I am having a slight temperature issue, so I modded the fan clutch in the 1HDT with 30000 cst. It works much better, but still creeps after a long drive at highway speed. Guess I am onto the Rad next....:meh:
