Finally finished my project!
- Bolted a fuse holder to the back of the battery box for a 150A fuse for the upgraded alternator
- Buttoned up the cooling system - had some trouble filling but parked it up hill while it was running and got it full
- cleaned & installed throttle body - then realized what a PITA it was going to be to reinstall the tranny kick down cable with it bolted down. Took it off again, hooked up all the cables and tried again.
- drained and filled transmission
- oil change.
- Put the hitch back on so I could put the bike carrier on and take the kids to the Starlight. Found that it doesn't actually fit with the Hefty bumper wings, but good enough for a couple of bikes. More incentive to get to work on my through-the-rear-crossmember hitch.
First time I started it, had gas *pouring out - WTF!? Turned out I forgot to connect a hose on the bottom of the intake. Must be the fuel return line or such,
One remaining problem - my HellRoaring dual battery controller isn't working right now. Out to take a look at it...

2nd I painted the 4WD with those paint pens you get from the craft store. I got the fat one, and painted it 2 coats. The 4WD is raised, and being the pen is fat it did have a little paint runs. I just got a black sharpie and outlined the 4WD on both flaps. Took me 20 min to do. Could of been faster, but I removed the flaps and washed them. Took it in the house on my table and colored them both. Then screwed them back on the truck.
Just doing a little cleaning and prep for the summer wheeling/camping. Sound deadening, front window + sunroof tint, shampoo the carpets, clean everything, new stereo, etc...
Ha ha! Yeah, it's not as big a deal as I feared it would be. I think it's going to be nice when it's done. Been months in the planning and of course there are "discoveries" when you start taking everything apart. No rush. Looking forward to a real pic to post before too long.
Um.... Haven't lifted the heater or console but have thought about it. Yes, it might be worth it if there's gold under there.

I traded a dude 4 275 70r16's for two 315's. Mounted one on the spare wheel and put the other in storage. Reinstalled all the s*** to hold the spare in the factory position. Trailer hitch went on to carry the bikes up to lake Pillsbury. The spare and the reciever sit at the same level and I have 1/4" betweene the panhard and the spare. I don't think I will monkey with it until I get a swing out.
Put a 16 foot canoe on the top and camped for 3 days.
I got some time while the little guy was naping to do some jeep trails in the area (Hull Mt.). Trails were dry and steep but a good way to kill an hour.
The manzanita was more than happy to add some custom California pin striping for free!
Oh, almost forgot...I broke my Independent Fabrications MTB

Spark plugs,a.c. compressor,dryer,o-rings. MIke
Pulled fan clutch and upgraded fluid from 10k cst to the 30k cst oil. Gave the condensor a thorough cleaning. Soaked it with water and Simple Green many times before running a hose with a 90 degree elbow at the end between the radiator and back of the condenser to blow out all the crud. It was not a dirty as I had anticipated but I did get a fair amount of silty dirt to come out. Installed Slee upgrade light harness while I had all the disassembled. I've had that harness for six year -- lol. Just never had the time/motivation to do it as a solo project. Also changed the oil/oil filter.
While doing this work I noticed the front left bolt on my valve cover was loose. I tightened that one down and proceeded to check the others. NONE of the bolts on my valve cover were even hand tight!
I have some oil leaks and it's clear that some of it was coming from the valve cover but I just assumed it was a gasket leak and I'd get to replacing it eventually. Turns out that leak may have simply been due to loose bolts.

Finally tagged a rocker panel after 3 1/2 years of wheeling without sliders.
Figure I'll straighten it out best I can and add sliders. Ran some new/harder trails this weekend and I'll be back on them again next time out so I need protection.

Replaced PHH with bypass and changed oil.

Also swapped the new Ironman springs on my 96 to level out the rear. Was leaning to the DS a bit.
