Not the best start to the day. Daughter was parked up at high school when Florida Man drove into her. No idea what speed the idiot was doing but thankfully my daughter is OK but a little shaken up.

Driver side fender and door is also damaged. I was able to drive it back home and it tracked pretty straight on the road. 2 fenders, hood, headlight, grill, valance, drivers door is making me think i will be fighting the insurance over a settlement cost.

The coastal offroad bumper took a direct side hit and held up well but the other giys explorer just collapsed around my bumper so damage happened regardless.

Sucks about the LC but glad your daughter is okay.

Sorry for your troubles.
Glad no one’s injured
Don’t let the insurance total that nice Cruiser.

Wasn't this weekend, today technically. I have slowly been replacing the wiring in my dual battery setup to 1 gauge wires and now I am working on the grounds. I made three today, the firewall and the two on the drivers side that attaches to the inner fender well also near the PS reservoir.

Since working in the battery industry I have become interested in dual batteries and the stuff to support those mods. Mainly the cables to support the mods, switching and DCDC charging.

I do have access to a fabricator at work, if there is interest in battery trays to support group 31 batteries I could get them made.

If I were to start making kits for dual battery cable setups, ground cables and battery trays would some of you be interested? If you are please PM me please. Want to keep this thread as technical as possible.

I recently went through this with my 94 Toyota pickup. I've done collision repair for 20 years and know how the insurance companies operate, they'll want to take the cheapest route to close the claim. I'd bet money that they will want to total it, what you'll need to do is gather every receipt for any and every dollar you've put in to the rig and start locating comparable 80's for sale on the Internet. Bookmark the ad and print off a hard copy...I'd find at least half a dozen of them that are in comparable condition to yours and are priced at what you value your rig at. At a certain point it'll all come down to a pissing match about the dollar value of your truck, total loss percentage is set by the state you live in and you can't change that amount but what you can do is prove the value of your vehicle to be high enough to stay under the total loss threshold. If all else fails you do have the right to demand a appraisal by an outside third party but their valuation is final and there will be no further negotiation so I'd do everything I can with providing comps and receipts and consider the appraisal a last resort. Absolutely under no circumstances should you Allow them to tow the truck anywhere, be it a repair facility or one of their "damage assessment centers" which are often just the closest salvage pool to your location. They can and will send a adjuster to your location and I would insist on that course of action. Good luck, I hope you come out ok.

Thanks for the feedback and insight to the insurance company shenanigans. I have receipts for everything which add up to the $15-$20k range. The truck was completely refreshed over the past 2 years. Engine, suspension, steering, fuel and interior have all been restored with mostly OEM parts. I think the loss % in florida is pretty high but replacement parts are hard to come by. The truck is now in my garage and I will be out of the country for a few days for business so will start the search for comparable models when i get back.

Sorry, you were not aware. Ourisman or Olathe are the reliable US mail-order shops. My Lexus dealer gives decent discounts as they are an Ourisman affiliate. Part-Souq and Amayana are legit alternatives.
I have purchased from all of them. Not sure why I tried a "new" vendor other than being stupid about saving $5. Parsouq, in my defense, was over $200 more, not including shipping...

Get the frame checked other than that hopefully someone near you is parting one out, and you want another radiator support it will be bent..
