Just curious.....how does it drive high speed ? does the windshield visor acts like a parachute? I know there is an opening for the wind to pass through but is that enough at 70+ mph? (113kmp)?
It drives really well high speed our speed limit is 110kmph on most of our highways and there very high head wind due to the massive trees both sides so your always driving in a wind tunnel (basically) and it's always up and down hills it's never flat . I previously had a fzj80 93 GXL with a 5 speed 1fz Petrol and it didn't have a visor but when I installed a roof basket (cargo rack) it definitely could feel it when in 5th gear and at 110 like it would start to back off and sit on 100 with 35s but with the HZJ80 I currently have now being diesel and turbo the torque is just insane it doesn't even feel head wind even towing a car trailer you definitely can feel the visors catching wind a little bit when the wind hits very hard on and off but doesn't seem to affect the speed or how it pulls , I would say you could probably mount the visor higher up to make a bigger gap at the top but I like how it sits it does get wind noise unfortunately but nothing too bad .

Annual trip wheeling trip with friends this weekend. This time we were up north of Reno plus a little bit in the Tahoe area. The Jeeps had some issues with overheating coolant systems and tcase wouldn’t go into 4 high or low. Toyotas had none as usual :flipoff2:

What website did you order your solenoids from?
OEM Isuzu Parts | REYNOLDS ISUZU TRUCK - https://www.isuzupartsdeals.com/ (Reynolds Isuzu)

Cobra transmission also sells them for a good price, but the Isuzu site had them on sale when I bought, which saved me about 40 bucks or so on the set of four.

Thanks for this. I’ll keep an eye on that site and see if they have any more sales in the future. I’m guessing it was one of those 15-25% off/free shipping sales similar to those the Toyota dealers run multiple times a year?

TLDR version: replaced the front knock sensor and finally got rid of the CEL I've been staring at for months.

Full story: my mechanic busted the connector on the front knock sensor when replacing the head gasket a number of months ago. He replaced it with what he assured me was a Toyota part. (Can you guess where this is headed?)

Couple days after getting the truck back I got a check engine light which turned out to be code 52. Quick search indicated that code 52 was knock sensor signal to the ECM.

Thinking that the front knock sensor was brand new, I went ahead and replaced the rear sensor. Still got the code. I checked and cleaned all connectors. Still had the code. So I figured it was probably the ECM itself or the wiring harness. But I reasoned that if it was the ECM I'd probably be having more than just this one issue.

Then while researching other possibilities I came across the FSM page that more specifically defined code 52 as being a signal issue from the front sensor. I also read several posts saying that after market knock sensors were notorious for failing quickly, sometimes right out of the box. So I decided to pull that sensor off and see if it truly was a Toyota part after all. Especially since this would be much quicker and cheaper than replacing the wiring harness or trying to splice new wiring for that particular run. That's one nice thing about having a right hand drive truck: lots of room to work on the left side of the engine bay. Sure enough it was not a Toyota part.

I ordered a new Toyota knock sensor, swapped it out, and voila! No more code. Unexpectedly the engine also runs a little smoother now, and idles lower at startup. Not sure if that's the new knock sensor, or related to the fact that I disconnected and reconnected the spark plug wire that goes to the starter to make it easier to reach the knock sensor. Whatever the case, I'm a happy camper.

I love it when the screws all come out in one piece.

I was watching OTRAMM's video on this recently - he talks about a keyway to be aware of when you pull that seal. Do you do anything special to avoid knocking it loose? Also, looks like you replaced those IJS phillips with hex keys. Are those better/easier? P/N? Hoping to tackle this while I replace the PS cooler (PITA).

BTW, I ended up going OEM with PS cooler so if someone wants a complete derale replacement set up, I may put that up for sale.

Bought one about 2 years ago for $2800 on sale, delivered. I bought another one this year for $3200 and picked it up.

Added a sleep platform storage system to my 80…
I’m looking forward to the adventures that await!

I finally got around to trimming more to clear the 40s. Looks like a bit more may need to come off around the battery tray area, but otherwise all is well. I'll know soon enough...

My 39s rubbed in the Battery tray area!
I had to move the tray up and massage that area.
