Tore apart another one today, 280k and looked great inside. Was told it blew the head gasket but nothing appeared wrong, gasket looked solid, pistons all the same and plugs looked old. Either way going in for a refresh.

Finally got pics but finished installing some “vintage” lol corbeaus with the old style slider and brackets. Thanks to @Darne! They sit lower then people say and are mad comfy.

Needed to call AAA for a tow yesterday. It appears the radiator sprang a large leak and puked all over the parking lot after and 30min drive. I feel lucky that it happened where it did and not on the highway. Was a new denso rad. Maybe 5yrs old and 10k miles on it. Ill pull it out and inspect soon. Time for an aluminum rad this time?

Holiday quiz time. I have just "finished" building my 4x4Labs rear dual swing out with tire carrier, ladder and 3 jerry can holder. I say finished but I have the following 5 items left over. Luke ( @4x4labs ) posted build instructions in a thread (4x4labs rear bumper build - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/4x4labs-rear-bumper-build.142286/) which also lists the parts supplied with each bumper variant. I don't see the parts I have left over anywhere however, the thread was posted back in 2007 so maybe additional parts have been added to the kits but not reflected in the instructions. The bottom 3 pieces appear to be gussets but I can't see anywhere obvious where they would go. The top 2 pieces have a curve similar to the spindle cover but I can't see a function for them.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I know the top two pieces can be welded onto the spindles for antenna mounts. Not sure about the others.

Had the chance to clean up my wiring with a Garmin power switch. After nearly 20 years of adding and adding of stuff, this really cleans up things.

I think the carpet may get snagged or hung up on items when pulling it out of the back. I am thinking about Rhino Lining it. If anyone else has any good suggestions, I am all ears!
I think if the carpet is secured properly it wouldn't snag any more than the factory tailgate carpet. I'll try figuring something out and share it when I do.

I have used double sided carpet tape from Home Depot with good results. I used it to secure indoor/outdoor carpet to my homemade storage platform in the back of my 80.

First trail ride of the year, Claudia in the LX, myself in the K5.

Trip through a burn scar: first, the Bush fire of 2020 (so named as it started at Bush Highway), and then a second time, IIRC in 2023. The 2020 fire killed a lot of statuesque Saguaro cacti; it looks terrible on both sides of Hwy 87.

View from up high down to the Sycamore Creek area, popular with the go-fast (and look tough...:hillbilly:  ) crowd. Weekends/holidays from fall to spring = perma-dust.

The equipment for today. Y'all know the LX from the previous weekend series pix. The K5 is a '85, 1-ton axles & fresh 37 Toyos. The pattern on the hood is in memoriam of the late Eddie Van Halen.

What goes up must come down - Claudia in the LX on the single serious descent.

Funny part is that in all those 20 years that we've been traipsing around on trails in the Phoenix area (and a few further south) we've never been on this one... good to start the New Year with a new line on the GPS.

Love that blazer. Have a 79 k15 myself. Square body Chevy and land cruisers are my favorite
Thanks! Have it since ‘96. It’s got ARB’s, and can go to most (but not all) places where it’ll fit. And I’ve refrained from making it fit. Despite many dents & scratches, doors & windows close, and the A/C is working (somewhat). That truck got me to see many places that I’d never imagined.

A little New Year's Day fun with some of the crew from Capital Land Cruiser Club (NOva/DC/MD)...out at Wolf Den State Park near Deep Creek Lake....

Glad I'm off through this weekend to get the power washer out!

Got it here

Did the last of the 4 door window runs. Other 3 tore but this one just got so dried out that the window refused to go up and down fully.

Previous owner or some hack mechanic removed the vapor barrier completely. Replaced the window regulator and added sound damping while in there. Motor was still GTG.
