I jumped in the truck and the seat was way too forward for me. Don’t know how that happened. And I’m pretty short.

Anyway…

Known problem. Had to remember what I did on the passenger side a few years ago.

That plastic screw just pops out.

Here goes.

I made a little bracket from a random thing. One of those sheet metal screw bracket thingies. Make sure you have a good tension fit. And tap it in…

That’s it.

Done.

Snapped a pic of my buddy's brand-new-to-him LX while we were doing some gentle exploration out the canyon. He's now on mud but I can't remember his handle. @Chukarbound ?

I need to do this. Procured the belts from @cruisermatt but need the pullies. Where did you source them?
Olathe toyota. You can find them tons of places. Any dealership or somewhere like partsouq. I wouldn't use olathe. They took 22 days to get me my parts. I should have gone with partsouq...

Drove it to the PO box to get a package

I threw away my idler pulley years ago. Now I want it back. The lock nut for the alternator is right in line with the belts and it a bear to tighten with a short open end wrench. I'm hoping that reinstalling the pulley will push the belts over and allow me to get a socket and ratchet on the nut.

Well, the old one I removed didn't seem all that bad. PM me if you want it.

Drove it to do some hiking, found a big chunk of petrified wood, and forgot to take a photo of the rig. Than I swapped belts and idler pulleys.

Properly installed the idler is not going to put pressure against the belts. The belts do not go over/around the idler just close to touching. Its' only there to keep the belt from flexing under engine load.

Daughter mentioned that sometimes when she turns to the Land cruiser off she can't get the key all the way back the first try.

I drove it today and the cylinder is a bit worn.
Sadly because it's an HDJ81 it's got a Lexus style key and entire lock sets are all but non existent.

Every so often this happens in my gasser 80. I have to wiggle the shifter to get the key to come out. I do have a new neutral safety switch that needs to be installed might help my issues.
