I spent the weekend trying to plan my 21 day road trip In Colorado, Utah and Wayoming.

Rented Jeep Wrangler and I booked the first 2 nights only.

The first night near Denver airport the second in Bolder because I would like to visit Slee Off road.

What's on the plate?

Salt Lake City Land Cruiser Heritage Museum
Yellowstone park
Teton park
Alpine loop
Blackhawk nit for the casino, but for the ghost town near it.
Idhao Springs
Some outlets for my wife shopping

No large cities. Back roads and country places. No desert of any kind

first stop will be at a camping store to get a stove and a cooler the stove for the coffee, I bring 4 pounds of the best middle eastern coffee.

Trying to master google maps

We will be happy to meet with MUD members and get as many tips from local as possible.

I wanted to open a thread in the forum, but I am afraid that I will get a pile of crap since this is not technical in nature

Just a suggestion, I hate driving the freeway system anymore. I try to take the roads less traveled, takes longer but more relaxing and you get to see so much more scenery. I took this route a few years ago between Jackson hole (take the tram to the top for beautiful views) and back to Denver. Longer trip but you get much better scenery.

Replaced my alternator, and did the header gaskets for the second time. Aaannnnd there is still a leak. :bang:
On the bright side my battery will stop dying. But Ill have to take the manifolds off for a third time, and this time I will resort to double gaskets.

You could start a thread in trails, events, expeditions. Just finished a road trip myself. Here's a shot of the beast at Chilkat state park in Haines, AK. It's a steep, gravel road to the location, but easily done by just about any vehicle.

I decided that after 12 years with the ARB front bumper that I'm sick of it and I'm going to get the Slee. Also sick of my factory wheels and looking at Icons.

Cleaned up the exhaust heat shields using high temp paint and JB weld. Nothing special, but looks better than it did before. Good enough until I decide to shell out the cash to buy new pieces. We shall see how it holds up….

I was you a few years ago! Done with my arb so put stock bumper back on. Might go with Dissent bumper next.
And sick of stock wheels. So bought Icons. Which required 1.25” spacers, which caused tires to rub. Also required all new lug nuts. (Added cost) which also required a lug nut tool. Plus they were fake beadlocks. After a while, it was too much and I went back to stock wheels and 35”s. :meh:

This is all good to know. I did call Icon to ask about the fit of the Compression model and the dude told me the 17x8.50 size with the 6x5.5 bolt pattern (4.75 BS and 0mm offset) would be plug and play. I appreciate you sharing that because I'm trying to figure it out before dumping $$ into wheels.

Drove.

Wish you would start a separate post about your trip my wife and I are planning the same thing next summer

Finally got my buddy to get a LX and first trip up dragging him up to the good stuff for a high altitude over-nighter. What's left of Jenny creek river trail. Nice work by the Rising Sun boys and girls, I have to assume it was being threatened to be shut down so they re-routed the trail.

Got the lockers a quick workout just to make sure the actuators are working.

Poser pic at the top, camp spot for the night.

Had a couple new friends stop by.

Nice morning sunrise.

Overland expo must be around the corner. Came up on this guy on the way out. Pretty sure he turned around towards the bottom, not because it wasn't badass rig, likely the constant taking out trees and pin-striping the top end of a mega expensive rig. Made the ol' 37's look pretty small.

Those DeltaVS bumpers are good looking. The Dissent Offroad bumpers are nice too, hard to say which one is my favorite.

“Some outlets for my wife shopping”

Outlets for your wife to shop at OR, shopping for a wife at an outlet 🤔

👍😎👍

Greased my shafts. I like the little pistol grip gun because easier to maneuver and operate with one hand under car.
Make sure you hit all 5 zerks on a dc shaft! 3 circled at the double cardan end and the other two u joints at the other end. In the pic you can see the red grease squirting out indicating well greased. You can also see what a pita the Slee belly skid is. But I like it. Burp those center spline zerks after!
