I'm kind of enjoying baselining...it can be frustrating but, I like to work on my vehicle. I can't on my DD, so this scratches my itch.
After owning my '97 for almost 8 years (and 23K miles put on), I was finally in a position last May to begin baselining. I have people around me (non-cruiser owners) who said I should skip it and just lift her and put bigger tires on her.
I stared at them, wide-eyed.
I learned thirty years ago when I was 15 with my dad in the garage, on any vehicle, "Make sure she runs and runs RIGHT before you do any of that other stupid stuff..."
That has stuck with me for 30 years.
So, last May, first thing, new Cooper Adventurer 265/75R16 tires because the others were dangerously bad.
Then the entire cooling system, all OEM (Aug).
Then the Fuel Filter and U-Joints, all OEM (Sept)
Then came the OEM Windshield gasket replacement (Oct)
Then came the full electrical system fix (Dec)
This past Wednesday was the CDL switch/mod and a few small creature comforts
Next? Since I don't have a garage, when it's not raining on a weekend, I'll change out the spark plugs, wires, cap/rotor, and dizzy-O
On deck: Front knuckle rebuild and Birf replacement (Buying new birfs in the next week or two...birfs are PM since I'll be in there and I'll probably pick them up via
@cruiseroutfit )
Maybe inbetween the cap/rotor/plugs update and the knuckle/birf rebuild I'll replace the Alternator and starter and the PCV valve (all OEM & PM)
Late summer I'm planning on pulling the carpet and putting sound dampening mats down and a new carpet due to years of water intrusion due to a full electrical problem...I'll swap out the front seats at that point also.
THEN I can move on to building
