Started it for the first time since the rebuild. It has been 2 years and 7 months since I parked it in the driveway to do some "minor maintenance". I got while I'm in there disease long before I got CoViD 19.

Yes. VHT wrinkle plus spray paint.

Do you have a heat gun? You can get absolutely killer results with a heat gun. Easy too.

2nd battery tray installed and PCV valve/hose replaced. Are you all running the battery cables in front of the radiator where the headlight harness runs, or the long way back to the firewall? I'm going to mount the isolator behind the 2nd battery tray fwiw

Would a 27 (not 27F) be better here? Keep the hot terminal away from the fender metal, and put the ground wire closer instead, like the setup on the other side?

Put on a roof rack, installed a cargo barrier, packed some camping gear and went out for an explore with mates. Taking it easy while I learn the new car; I'm not used to having so much clearance... or such a smooth ride over dips and bumps. Will need to do some repairs this weekend though, the drivers mirror fell out and the rear lights stopped working for some reason (brake lights still work though). Old and crusty plastic probably hasn't seen a bumpy track for decades under the previous owner who only used it to cruise roads.

I don’t think it matters GM has built millions of trucks with the hot post close to the fender. Granted there are side post batteries.

took the 80 to what i would consider the best wheeling trail we have here in MN, Mesabi Mountain Trail. We had rain the night before and with all the leaves on the ground, it was a sloppy mess which makes going thru the rocks a tricky slippy mess, but fun. Front and Rear lockers got a full exercise! It is total 7-8 miles (in/out) trail which takes about 4-5 hrs.

No damage, other than new gouges on the rock slider and rear bumper. Steering wheel straight on 4hr drive home, success!

Follow the directions on the can of how to lay down the coats and it’s cake with the heat gun. Wrinkles right before your eyes.

I rubbed down the roof with GoJo hand cleaner to remove the tree crud, then pressure washed it off. Looks much better.
Priced some new rear tires to match up to the newer fronts. Trying to get a tread pattern to match as close as possible. They discontinued the tires that's on the front.

The pattern is the same, but often times the center bore is smaller on the GM specific wheels. Most of the time that just means the center cap won’t work. -If that’s important to you.

On the valve covers there is a small spot on one that looks like it flaked off. It's taken about 4 years to do that. The Tuffy console is still perfect. I painted a matching brown over the black wrinkle and that worked good.

Went with some buddies up Miller Jeep Trail. For a first time off roader, the unlocked truck carried me through 98% of the trail. Needed to get pulled on 2 obstacles but it did amazing on just 2.5 lift and 33 KO2s. I also installed my quad headlights and scs f5s a week before. The wheels gained a few badges of honor along the trail

I don’t think it matters GM has built millions of trucks with the hot post close to the fender. Granted there are side post batteries.

Definitely an issue once you get the cable connector clamps on there JMHO

Thats a fun relatively easy trail with some challenging obstacles at the end. I have done it a handful of times before.
