Getting there.. I still have some more wet sanding and blending to do, but it is ok for now. I also installed a rear defroster stick on kit, mine was worthless. Let's see how it works. New glass with factory tint was prohibitively expensive.

Please report back on what rear window defroster kit you used and how well it works.

Changed my startup screen on the ole Alpine.

Installed a Scan Gauge using Wits End useless cubby mount and scan gauge bracket.

Purchased an Allen head bolt and a small spacer from the hardware store to mount firmly against the dash pad. I did have to route an alternate wire path for it to line up correctly and close the gap, the only way to get it completely against the mount would have require drilling new holes on the mount and hollowing out a significant recess for the plug.

Happy with the outcome, probably need to change the fuel economy to a different tab, I don’t need any reminders!

I made it real fast on my pc with some random 80 series internet pic, just to test out replacing the splash screen. I need to make a newer one with a nice pic of my actual 80
Uhhhh, so how do WE do it? 😆 And can that trick be pulled on any brand screen like that?

The Alpine that I got and most newer ones probably use the same method. Other brands have different ways of doing it.

For this Alpine you make a folder called OPENINGFILE in the root directory of a usb thumb drive. In that folder you put the 800x480 pic you want as the splash screen, it has to be formatted as .bmp and named openingfile.bmp. restart the headunit with the usb thumb drive connected and it will ask to update the start screen pic. Viola!

Now that I have a new center console from DeltaVS I thought I'd mention something many of you with this console have figured out already. A CCW fits nicely in the flip down tray on the lid. Nice discreet location and relatively secure when the console is locked.

Nice, I starting to think I need to get this console. Hopefully here in a few months we can start calling in Constitutional carry.

I’ve seen that done and it’s bad axx. Pretty much made for it. And guy I saw (up north of the SL valley) also had a fixed blade mounted to the driver side of it. I’d about talked myself out of it, but I’m struggling not to pay up the Delta boys...great stuff!

Well somebitch that’s cool! I haven’t upgraded my head unit yet (it’s next after the diffs get reinstalled). May have to go with the nostalgic Alpine after all...takes me back to my glory days 😆. Thanks!

I have been eyeing these YodaTEQ mounts ever since I saw them on @jcardona1 killer 80. So earlier this week I finally pulled the trigger and bought the kit which includes both the left and right sides. I plan on using one for my We Boost antenna and the other side will be for a LED pod or CB I am not sure yet.

The amazing thing about this was the handwritten note from YodaTEQ that was included with my order. The packaging was above and beyond too.

This is the kit I bought:

Will let you know how well it works. I'll also post a pic of my s***ty install tomorrow. :D

Anyone know who this truck belongs too? My brother sends me pics of any LC he sees in the LV area. He wants one but currently has a Montero.

This looks like a well used and nicely set up LC!

Don't know the owner. But I have noticed a lack of members in the 80 series forum from the Vegas area. We need to get your bro into a rig so he can represent the LV crowd.

Looking good! One thing checked off and now on to many other “improvements“!
The "to do" list is long on this one! Going to try the 3M stripping wheel on the pin stripes today, will post the results.

I agree. He gets out every weekend for a run somewhere. The pictures would be some much better with a LC in the background.

LV area has some great wheeling locations!

I sure see a lot of new JL's with NV plates in my neck of the woods coming from Vegas. It's only a 2 hour drive away. I think a large majority of people in Vegas have a unique mindset. I see more brand new cars in Vegas than anywhere else. It is a money and image mentality in that city. Nobody from vegas wants to use a old vehicle for offroading, I get the impression they all want the latest and greatest brand new. This is probably a compensation to try and make up for the severe depression that comes from living in Vegas lol. I think it would be the most depressing place to live. No trees, extreme crazy heat that keeps you inside half the year, and being surrounded by all the gambling, sex, drugs, and homelessness would drive me insane....
