Tackled the tie rod ends this weekend.

If you don't know when these have been changed and you live in the rust belt I would recommend ordering the rod as well. I, unfortunately, did not.

We mangled the TRE on the left.
- Cut the ball joint housing so a 30mm socket would fit over it in hopes an impact wrench could knock it loose. No luck.
- Cut the ball joint off completely to try and drill it out. No luck.
- Use the notch in the rod to cut a slit in the threads and was finally able to get it free.

Truck was driveable, but I will be taking these apart again when the new rod comes in.

Used a 4 foot pipe wrench to remove mines along with some heat. What a struggle!

I have heard it is good in November, need to get down there sometime other than KOH.

Cheers
The weather is real nice down there this time of year and no crowds!!

Next time don’t remove it. It’s not necessary to access the door components.
Good to know. I was messing with my door the other day and noticed that trangle is really in there. Being as mine is brand new I really did NOT want to break it.

Just broke mine last week putting in my new belt mouldings :o
