With help from LA takumi @NorCalFJ100 replaced the two hoses, pcv valve and grommet as there was a bit of residue on the valve cover.

Interestingly, the valve that was replaced looks to be an aftermarket part with “USA” etched on it. Get off my 80!

Noticed the just bought Toyota hoses are made in China FWIW.

While I appreciate the scratch preventention on the arms, I hope they get many many scratches soon. Mine are shredded right there!
Oh, they will, but I try to differentiate between scratches earned when used-as-intended (a good thing IMO) and scratches earned from lazy wrenching practice.

Drove past the grocery store and malls and ended up in the Sierra....the LX flagship of the Toyota line was flawless in the backcountry ;)

Did some hiking up to one of the fire lookout towers for some nice views.

That rear hatch light is silly bright. Tell me about that thing man!! Coolness.....

All lights look bright during a long exposure :p

My tailgate was looking worse for wear and decided to put a lid on it and have a little extra storage. Huracan lid. Even though I usually inadvertently figure out ways to make things take way longer than expected, this install was quick and easy. I didn't enjoy putting the sound deadening in there and lost my patience on that part but other than that it was easy.

I have a storage lid on my tailgate as well. Love it. I like your drawer set up. Did you build it?

Productive weekend with all new OEM parts

Air filter
Cleaned interior and exterior of air filter housing
Cleaned MAF
Intake tube with clamps between MAF and throttle body
Throttle body gasket
Cleaned interior and exterior of throttle body and intake (well, what I could get to at least)
Vacuum lines throughout with clamps
Coolant hoses to throttle body with clamps
Large throttle body hose with clamps (holy wow that hose is expensive for what it is)
Spark plugs gapped to 0.031"
Spark plug and coil wires
Cleaned spark plug wire covers
Distributor cap
Distributor dust gasket
Distributor rotor
Valve cover gasket
Cleaned half-moons with new FIPG
Cleaned interior and exterior of valve cover and screws
Spark plug tube seals
PCV valve
PCV valve grommet
PCV hose and clamps
Valve cover hose and clamps
I think that's it...?

And WOW does this thing purr. This truck was in great condition with a lot of maintenance already in place. To think I thought it ran great before... Throttle is so responsive and revs freely. I'm impressed. The idle seems high, but I remember thinking the throttle cable seemed a little tight when I put it on...I think I need to adjust that a little (but I do like that response!).

Added curves to straight panels, removed the exhaust, and used it for what it is for...

Yeah, several years ago. I got tired of hauling camp boxes in and out all the time. But, back then I was getting out a lot more. I liked the idea of one big drawer with dividers and at a height that mathed the middle seats half folded. Can sleep inside that way. Most folks would argue it is too damn heavy and I have to say they are right. But...I don't ever see it failing and with 500lb capacity slides it handles everything I can stuff in it with zero rattles or drama. It handles that heavy drop fridge slide with big fridge/freezer with ease.
If I had to do things all over again on the whole truck, I would try and keep weight lower.

I like this concept a lot and I've been wanting drawers for a while. I think I might make mine a bit shorter, just flush with the rear wheel wells.

Strangely I actually finished the projects I had planned. I managed to swap out the old radiator and just in time by the looks of it...

Replaced it with a new OEM one.

With the radiator out of the way i took the opportunity to swap out the water pump and thermostat plus the front main seal and fix the slight leak on the oil pump cover. Also upgraded my steering cooler..

...and swapped all the hoses for new ones. Between this lot and the front and rear axle jobs and new OEM calipers and rotors on all 4 corners i hope to be maintenance free for a few months..

Went wheelin with friends at Johnson Valley
